The focus of my writing at Substack feels like it should shift away from what I write on Patreon. I feel more inspired to write over here about vibrational and energetic work, and how it applies to things like witchcraft as opposed to copying and pasting public posts from my Patreon, which is primarily about numerology. So, because that is what I want to write about, let’s kick things off with a series about one of my favourite topics: subtle aromatherapy. Grab some tea and strap in!

What is an Aromatic Apothecary?

Apothecary vs Dispensary

An apothecary, by definition, is someone who makes and sells remedies or medicines in a way that is consistent with what we would consider to be “holistic healing” in modern terms. It is an old-fashioned term, and the original apothecaries are the ancestors of the modern pharmacists, particularly compounding pharmacists. They are creators and sellers of herbal and plant-based remedies. Their focus is on holistic, natural, and herbal goods like teas and, nowadays, essential oils. Although we tend to think of them in old-fashioned environments, an apothecary can absolutely be in a modern wellness boutique.

While their shops can also be called apothecaries, the word dispensary can also be used. A dispensary is a place where remedies and treatments, as well as related supplies, are stored and prepared, then given out to people. A lot of modern cannabis shops call themselves dispensaries, although this word does not solely apply to them.

I use both words interchangeably and have favoured dispensary in years past because of my esthetic training, although these days I am more likely to use the word apothecary because when I say dispensary, most people’s heads go right to cannabis.

The specific apothecary I will be talking about in this series of articles is (mostly) essential oils. Along the way, I will also be talking about resins, macerations, CO2 extracts, and other things that people just lump under the term “essential oil”. I have been studying aromatherapy since 1993, and I’ve been an aromatherapist since 1998. I’m not going to talk a lot about contemporary aromatherapy. There are enough websites that do this. I don’t particularly feel the desire to throw my voice into that great big sea.

There’s nothing wrong with modern aromatherapy or its scientific outlook. I practice it every day, and it works. What I want to talk about is something that fell off the radar around 1998 when a few really big essential oil companies began to dominate the landscape and reshaped the practice of aromatherapy to be acceptable to mainstream Western notions of wellness….and to get us to spend more money consuming more of their product because selling people a bottle of something that will last a few years isn’t a great business model. I want to talk about subtle aromatherapy.

What subtle aromatherapy means

Subtle aromatherapy is how I first learned of aromatherapy in the early 90s. It is the use of essential oils in non-physical ways. This particular niche in the field of aromatherapy makes use of essential oils to affect the subtle bodies, the psyche, and perhaps even the soul, which in turn benefit the physical body. Subtle aromatherapy is a form of vibrational healing. Practitioners draw upon the energetic or vibrational qualities of essential oils, rather than just the physical ones.

Every plant and the essential oils derived from them are believed to emit specific megahertz frequencies (MHz) that can interact with the human energy field to restore vibrational balance. Some essential oils, like Lavender and Frankincense, harmonize with a broad spectrum of people.

Many of us practice different forms of subtle aromatherapy today, perhaps without realizing that this is what we are doing. When we diffuse oils in a room to assist with relaxation, uplift the collective mood of the household or office, shift our focus for prayer or meditation, or “clear the air” after words have been exchanged, we are engaging in the vibrational work of subtle aromatherapy.

During a subtle aromatherapy treatment, the aromatherapist may not touch the client at all, while during a more mainstream treatment (usually massage, body treatments, or facials) the therapist is very much hands-on. Some of the things that fall under the subtle or vibrational category are things like auric massage, chakra balancing, distant or absent healing, meditation, ritual purification, or spellwork (often referred to as “spiritual work” in many New Age-y books on wellness).

Aromatic materials as a magical language

Have you ever written a magical sentence with a string of runes? Essential oils can function in much the same way. Aromatic materials do not function as isolated parts put together in a container or as keywords in a manual. Their meaning and energy shift according to how they’re mixed, what they’re mixed with, what the emphasis is in the recipe, and the vibrations and energetic projections of the person doing the mixing. While we may start out looking at them as a collection of correspondences, as the particulars of each work progress, they become a constructed statement.

Imagine that you’re writing a sentence and the subject is the person, condition, place, or goal that your work is all about. The verb is what must happen. Are you trying to do a road opener, or are you attracting something to yourself? Maybe you’re protecting yourself or trying to have information revealed. Perhaps you want to sever or strengthen ties. The modifier of your magical sentence could be the quality shaping this action. Should it be gentle and slow-acting or decisive and urgent? Perhaps it should happen quickly but quietly or go off with a bang. Then we get to the conclusion of your sentence; how should the work stabilize?

Let’s look at an example. Maybe you need to encourage someone to speak honestly without making the interaction argumentative or combative. Your aromatic sentence might contain the following ingredients:

• Lavender to lower their defensiveness so they become more approachable.

• Petitgrain to support open communication as well as composure.

• Frankincense to establish sincerity and longevity.

• And a small amount of black pepper to provide courage.

Why a practical collection does not have to be enormous

Good quality essential oils are not cheap! There are some that are quite reasonably priced because they exist in great quantity on this earth, but others are much more dear. Essential oils derived from popular culinary herbs that are already grown in huge quantities are going to be more affordable than essential oils derived from flowers that only grow in one or two places on the planet. When most people first start looking at essential oils, the first reaction is generally sticker shock because this itty bitty bottle that holds a quarter teaspoon of watery oil is selling for the same price as a cut, colour, and foils. Thankfully, we don’t have to go broke buying them, although it can be tempting! When I studied aromatherapy in school, we started with a kit of twenty-five oils and out of that kit I used five or six in hot and heavy rotation.

Start small and build. If you’d like to start using essential oils in spellwork, buy just the oils you need to make a candle anointing oil or two or three oils for a particular spell. If you’re going to try your hand at vibrational healing, buy one or two oils for that and when you’re ready to get more, get them. It took me years to build up my apothecary, one spell or healing at a time.

The same goes for things like carrier oils, creams, powders, butters, waxes, and anything else you might need to do your work. Buy things as needed, because if you’re just starting out, you don’t know exactly what you need. You don’t want to waste a bunch of money on oils and support ingredients only to never use them.

Building according to use rather than consumer trends

The young witchcraft content creator on TikTok is clicking and clacking her long nails on the side of the glass apothecary bottle ASMR style, while she intones in a little vocal fry about the ancient powers of the oil inside. You watch it twice because the bottle is pretty and you like the background music, and the algorithm springs into action. You see another video, and another, and another. No, it’s not a sign from the universe that you need to spend 39.99 on candle oil. It’s your viewing habits telling every platform you visited that day that you’ll pay attention to those videos.

Do not go broke buying things you see being hawked on social media. Many influencers are peddling garbage because they’re getting a commission. A lot of it, particularly in the wellness or spiritual niches, is full of absolute crap. Even the big essential oil companies are not immune to quality issues. Adulteration and misidentification are well-documented in the essential oil market. Some popular companies have had their turns in court in various countries because private individuals in different places took their products to independent labs to have them tested and found them to be full of fillers.

Before you click “add to cart”, stop and ask yourself, “Do I need this because it fills a genuine space in my apothecary or because I’ve seen it so many times online this week?”

Purity Is Not the Same as Authenticity

Sometimes the fillers are more common essential oils that mimic the smell or have similar healing properties to more expensive or harder-to-get oils. The more expensive or rare an oil is, the more likely you are to be buying something adulterated; the more popular an oil is, the more likely it, too, is not truly pure. For example, Linden essential oil is an extremely expensive, rare oil, and because of this relative to the amount actually sold worldwide, it is a fair bet that most of it, if not all, is adulterated. Lavender, a very popular oil, is also often adulterated, because even though it is widely grown, demand still outpaces supply and it is often used as a filler for more expensive florals and herbals.

Sometimes the fillers are laboratory-created compounds that occur naturally in the oil. This is generally dressed up in terms like “biotechnology” or “clean science” in wellness and skin care literature. It is possible to create some essential oils, like Lavender, in a lab. When I used to do in-house esthetic education for a salon company I worked for several years ago, we used Dermalogica. At that time, they quite proudly taught that some of their botanicals — Lavender oil among them — were synthesized in a lab. Their reasoning was that they were saving land, reducing their pollution footprint, guaranteeing a consistent product because they didn’t have to rely on nature, and according to the educator, “Linalool is linalool whether it comes from a lab or a plant.” Synthetic molecules may be chemically pure, and they may pass basic compositional specification testing, but more specialized testing can sometimes reveal a synthetic origin.

Can a Lab-Made Aromatic Carry Plant Spirit?

Clean tech extracts occupy a grey area between natural and synthetic. You should do your own research and come to your own conclusions on it. I’ll give you some of the talking points:

• Chemists and environmentalists love this method because it solves two big problems in many industries today, like wellness and beauty, because it eliminates environmental instability and exploitation.

• It solves the batch problem because widely different varieties can appear under the same name. If we use Lavender as an example again, some cultivars have high levels of linalool, making them very soothing. Others have high levels of cineole or camphor, making them great for congestion but irritating to skin. Suppliers have been known to mix batches or just swap one out for the other. Lab-created botanicals will always have the exact chemical balance brands want.

• It solves the sustainability paradox as well. Farming enough botanicals, like real rose or sandalwood to satisfy global demand would involve huge amounts of deforestation and water use. Biotech is viewed as the only ethical way to keep using these ingredients without destroying the planet.

On the flip side, there is the “fake” feeling that people have. There is also an idea being promulgated amongst the witchcraft community that essential oils are “dirty” or somehow spiritually “unclean”. Consumers and purists hesitate to work with aromatherapy for these reasons, so let’s look at some of their talking points:

• The “soul” of the plant is missing. Let’s just eat dessert first here, because this is a thing we need to consider if we are talking about the vibrational or energetic use of something. If you open up any book about aromatherapy, by the third page you’ll have read a sentence which says that essential oils are the living force of the plant or contain the life energy of the plant. Is a lab-concocted botanical “alive”? Does it have the “ancient memory” that many attribute to plants?

• Critics will also argue that a true essential oil contains hundreds of trace compounds depending on the landscape, elevation, water, weather, and frequency/vibration of the land and that these elements all work together in symphony to produce certain effects. The lab can not reproduce this.

• There are also “greenwashing” concerns. Among many purists exists the suspicion that companies hide behind phrases like “biotech” and “clean tech” or “nature identical” simply because it is cheaper than farming actual plants but market it as “Look, we’re saving the planet” to charge a premium price.

Many high-end beauty and wellness brands have quietly moved to this production model. Science views the molecules in question as being indistinguishable from the ones found in nature, even though they were born in a beaker or via yeast fermentation instead of in a garden or a farmer’s field. Biotech is considered a superior option because it is viewed as “cleaner” than nature — free from pesticides and soil contaminants.

I’m not going to tell you how to think about either side of this argument, and I won’t condemn anyone for their choices. Over the years I have experimented with oils purchased from MLM companies like DoTerra and Young Living, from NOW, Eden’s Garden, Aura Cacia, and even from companies based in European countries. My primary go-to is a company whose owner is an established and credible voice in the scientific community and does not shy away from the more contentious discussions in the industry. My secondary choice is a family business that tries to develop personal relationships with the farms they buy from.

The idea of a personal materia aromatica

Books of correspondences are great to have, and they certainly deserve a place on your bookshelf. Sometimes, though, correspondences end up being oversimplified lists that can flatten complex ideas into a few keywords. We can all recite “Lavender for peace, rosemary for protection, rose for love, patchouli for money” in our sleep. Those correspondences are not wrong, but they are incomplete. Correspondence lists can tell you where to get started, but they don’t tell you how the ingredients will shift every time they’re used.

Your personal materia aromatica becomes part of your grimoire. It is your personal recollection and record of what your aromatics have shown you through consistent use.

• It can contain the common name, the Latin binomial, how the essence is extracted and from what parts of the plant, what country or region it came from, relevant chemotypes, where you bought it, as well as notes about its aroma, blending behaviour, and maybe even a little sketch of the plant if you are artistically inclined.

• A section for traditional knowledge should be in there as well. This might include information that connects your aromatic ingredients to folklore or mythology, religions, or established magical practices.

• You should also write down your personal associations. Maybe certain plants or their oils trigger certain memories. Perhaps when you worked with a certain oil, you had certain dreams. Perhaps you associate Lavender and Sage with comfort because your grandmother placed them in her linen cupboard to keep things smelling clean. Or maybe you associate these smells with institutional cleaning products from your workplace. None of your personal associations or responses cancel out their traditional symbolism, but both of these things can affect how the aroma functions for you.

• Finally, you should record your practice-based observations. What did you use these oils for? What were they blended with? How were they applied? What sort of atmosphere did they create? Did everything turn out as you expected? Were there unintended occurrences? Did your results change over time with different proportions or methods of use? Over time, patterns will emerge, and this will probably become the most important part of your records.

You don’t have to invent new meanings for every bottle on your shelf. Your materia aromatica simply documents the space where established knowledge and direct experience break bread together. The traditional correspondences give us a language structure that we inherited from other practitioners, and personal experience and observation teach us to become fluent in this new language.

We know them best by their legendary professional monikers: Cheiro, the celebrity seer who read the palms of Oscar Wilde and Mark Twain, and Sepharial, the intellectual giant of the British astrological revival. But if you strip away the grand histories, their real genius wasn’t ancient magic; it was their absolute mastery of personal branding. They didn’t just practice arythmancy or astrology; they engineered multi-layered personas specifically designed to capitalize on the esoteric.

Long before anyone coined the term “social media influencer,” these two men were running the exact same digital playbook. They are part of the direct lineage of today’s internet gurus who claim they’ve “cracked the cosmic code” or “fixed” a system like astrology or numerology.

Cheiro: The Charismatic Lifestyle Guru

Born in Ireland as William John Warner, Cheiro quickly realized that a mundane name wouldn’t open the doors to London’s high-society drawing rooms. He was a journalist, war correspondent, editor, and well-travelled media professional before becoming the seer to the stars. Like a modern creator launching a high-end personal brand, he crafted a brilliant dual identity:

• The Mystic Brand (Cheiro): The mysterious, worldly initiate who supposedly lived in hidden caves with master Brahmins and possessed ancient, prehistoric red-leather books written in gold leaf.

• The Elite Access Card (Count Louis Hamon): To move seamlessly among the aristocracy, he claimed a fabricated aristocratic lineage, eventually legally changing his name to Count Louis Hamon.

It was a brilliant marketing funnel. As “Count Louis,” he gained access to kings, popes, and tech pioneers like Thomas Edison. Once inside the room, he deployed “Cheiro” to read their fortunes. He curated the mystery to build the hype and used the aristocratic title to justify his premium pricing.

Walter Gorn Old: The “Rabbit Hole” Podcaster

While Cheiro was busy climbing the social ladder, his colleague Walter Gorn Old was running the intellectual side of things. A medical and pharmaceutical student with an interest in Orientalism before becoming an astrologer, Old didn’t change his legal name to a count, but he knew exactly how to manufacture authority. He became Sepharial for his astrological audience, and when he wanted to launch a specific system of sound vibration, he created Sheikh Habeeb Ahmad.

If Cheiro was the lifestyle influencer, Walter was the research-oriented rabbit hole podcaster who claims he’s read the hidden archives. His scientific education influenced his writings, and he approached charts, numbers, and planets with the mind of a pharmacist measuring out ingredients for a prescription. In spite of his scientific education, he took a variety of odd jobs, like a probate clerk, when astrology wasn’t paying all the bills.

He claimed his “Sheikh” system was an ancient, exotic secret from the Middle East, but Walter hadn’t been initiated by a secret Middle Eastern order; he was sitting at a desk in London. As a high-ranking member of the London Theosophical Society, he lived and worked alongside people such as Madame Blavatsky.

Walter’s true “secret source” wasn’t a hidden temple—it was the British Library reading room. In the late Victorian and Edwardian eras, London was flooded with the first major English translations of manuscripts from around the world. The Department of Manuscripts and the Department of Printed Books grew enormously during this period. This was driven by the expansion of the British Empire, technological leaps forward in transportation and printing, and a massive wave of global archaeological discoveries.

Walter sat in London, devoured academic translations from Ancient Greece, Rome, Egypt, Persia, India, and many other parts of the world. He reverse-engineered teachings from ancient mathematicians and philosophers such as Pythagoras, Plotinus, and Hypatia, and from the Hodgson Papers (a massive collection of works that preserved information on Buddhist and Hindu manuscripts and became a well-regarded repository of Mahayana Buddhism). Among these papers were translations of Sanskrit and Greek writings detailing complex cosmologies of numbers. He put all of this into a modern system that involved Western naming conventions. Then he wrapped it all up under a Middle Eastern pseudonym, wrote appendices on predicting British horse races, and sold this system to a hungry Western public.

The “Cave of Brahmins” Myth vs. The Receipts

Just like a modern YouTube creator filming a video that starts with, “The hidden ritual the mainstream media doesn’t want you to know about,” both men knew that a good backstory sells books.

But if you look for objective colonial paper trails, ship manifests, or independent local registries in India from that time, Cheiro’s grand cave initiations and Walter’s Eastern masters completely vanish. Mark Twain, after having his palm read by Cheiro, famously noted that while the man possessed a terrifyingly sharp, genius-level intuition for reading human psychology, his elaborate backstories were pure theatrical mystique.

The ultimate giveaway is right inside their own texts. If either man had actually been initiated into a pure, ancient Sanskrit lineage, their systems would reflect traditional Vedic grammar and phonetic laws. Instead, their books are meticulously tailored to analyze the English alphabet and Western calendar dates. They took ancient planetary concepts involving numbers, stripped away their complexities, and grafted them onto an English-language framework.

The Direct Descendants of the Edwardian Hustle

Watch any modern spiritual influencer who claims they have either “fixed” a traditional system or are practicing the “one true something or other” (the “I fixed astrology” guy comes to mind, as does GG33) or uncovered a “forgotten galactic light code,” you are watching Cheiro and Sepharial’s direct digital descendants. They use the exact same tactics:

1. The Manufactured Crisis: “The mainstream systems are broken/lying to you.”

2. The Exclusive Origin Story: “I discovered a secret lineage/had a sudden download/uncovered an ancient text.”

3. The Mask of Authority: Using pseudonyms, exotic titles, and curated aesthetics to signal a specific level of elite spiritual power.

Cheiro and Walter didn’t have algorithms, but they had society columns, publishing houses, and a public desperate for spiritual vocabulary and spiritual experiences. They leaked their own accurate predictions to the press, built an aura of extreme exclusivity, and made sure that using their ciphers was the ultimate metaphysical status symbol.

The Hidden Influencer

Missouri mystic Aso Neith Cochran is probably the one modern number mystic that I would call a true Pythagorean numerologist. She was very interested in vibration and sound/music, much like the ancient mathematician and philosopher was. She also never published any works and got into serious trouble with the authorities, much like Pythagoras. I have written about her before; you can check in the collections for information about her and also “Mrs L Dow Balliett” (Sarah Balliett). There is no historical evidence linking her to either Sepharial or Cheiro, but she did spend several years in Europe, using “mystical numbers” and “vibrational science” to consult with physicians in private clinics and to see high-end clients for readings, as Cheiro did. In fact, they moved in much the same circles in Europe and at about the same time.

They had systems that operated in parallel to each other. Aso Neith was a pioneer of the American “Vibrational” school, which focused more on musical harmonics, sound, and personal psychology. Sepharial and Cheiro were products of the British/Theosophical school, heavily rooting their systems in Hindu (Vedic) and Hebrew (Kabbalistic) sources. Recent scholarship (such as by M. Marble for the Philosophical Research Society) suggests Aso Neith actually preceded the more famous American numerologist Sarah Joanna Balliett (c. 1904). It was Balliett’s work that eventually cross-pollinated with European ideas, but Aso Neith was the forgotten original source for the American side of that tradition. Aso Neith’s teachings would also show up in the numerology taught by financier and mathematician W.D. Gann and Harvard mathematician Dr. Kevin Quinn Avery.

So once again, even though I am writing about two men from the UK who profoundly influenced (and most likely created) the modern practices of Chaldean and Vedic numerology, the trail winds back to two American women: Aso Neith Cochran and Sarah Balliett, who never seem to get remembered in popular culture, especially “Mother Cochran”, who was probably the one who started it all!

Some Final Words To Close This Up

Why does this matter for us as modern practitioners?

Because when you realize that some of the foundational builders of modern numerology were actually creative and smart, but self-promoting and very ordinary human beings who built their systems out of dusty libraries and the teachings of others who came before them, the pressure to find a “sacred, unbroken ancient system” completely dissolves. They weren’t defending a holy, unchangeable law handed down by gods or aliens; they were part of a community of people building dynamic, metaphysical tools designed to map human experience. They brought ancient teachings into a modern context.

If we go back through all the modern numerology books influencing people today that have been published since WWII, whether they call themselves Vedic, Chaldean, or Pythagorean, the closer we get to Sepharial and Cheiro, the more alike these systems all become. I can actually see the split among these three streams emerge in books by people like Harish Johari, Ashok Bhatia, Shirley Lawrence, Dusty Bunker, Norman Shine, Matthew Oliver Goodwin, Kristyna Arcarti, Heather Alician Lagan, Doris Chase Doane, and so many more.

Over the last thirty years, these three main streams have become more closed off from each other, I am sure, spurred on at least in part by the Internet, with offshoots claiming to be from unbroken Egyptian or Sumerian lines (yet using a format that is 100% lifted from authors like Dusty Bunker and Matthew Oliver Goodwin). Since the late 1980s, some people have created completely new schools of numerology that draw heavily on the work of the people I mentioned earlier, and these schools are closed ecosystems with specific levels and/or certifications (Matrix of Destiny, Human Design, and the Soul Contract Readings system come to mind).

The next time an internet gatekeeper pops up on your feed claiming they are the sole keepers of an ancient Pleiadian-Pythagorean-Vedic-Starseed secret, smile and recognize the hustle for what it is. It’s just a modern-day Walter or William, putting on a digital mask, looking for an audience to conquer. Use the tools and understand their history, but never fall for the theatrics.

I had only ever heard of Alex Reads Tarot in passing. She might have popped up on my FYP a time or two, and like a lot of people in the spiritual communities on TikTok, I probably ignored her and scrolled on by — until this past week and now she’s all I hear about. Like everyone else, I went and looked at her video.

The first thing I want to say is that she doesn’t owe anyone an explanation. If she doesn’t think that Tarot should be a part of her journey as a Christian, then she shouldn’t have to explain it. The bigger questions, to me—judging by the reactions I am seeing in my feed—seem more about parasocial relationships with people who have large followings online.

The second thing I want to say is that yes, this is not new. This is a script from a playbook we’ve been seeing in heavy rotation since Doreen Virtue did it in 2017. Yes, Christian Nationalism is a thing. Yes, creators are being lured into a New Age to Alt Right pipeline. Yes, the repost section of her TikTok page is a little….ewwww. My mommy senses are tingling, and I strongly suspect that she is suffering from a broken heart and is a little leaf in the wind right now.

But guess what? All that aside, we’re going to lose more folks from our community to conservative monotheistic religious pathways like Christianity and Islam. People are going to leave the fold. People with monotheistic religious trauma are going to have big feelings about it. Gird your loins accordingly. Wish them well, breathe, go jump up and down and get that energy out of your chest, and carry on. We won’t know if Alex pulled a Doreen for a little while yet. Will she try to profit off the audience she built from Tarot as a born-again Christian? Only time will tell.

Also, FYI, when we are all busy paying attention to one person making a dramatic exit, we fail to notice all the new people who arrive at the door.

I will say, while I’m thinking about it, that if you’re one of the people insisting she refund the clients she did readings for this past year — when a restaurant closes, do you chase the owner down to get a refund on all the meals you bought in the past, while they were wrestling with whether or not they wanted to continue in the restaurant business? No, you don’t, so please be quiet.

I had concocted a Tarot spread for myself regarding my feelings about it, and if you’re interested, I can share it here. In the meantime, I’m just going to say that the moon — while obscuring and often infuriatingly abstract — never lies. Here’s what the moon was up to when everything went down. I study Vedic astrology, which uses the sidereal zodiac, and I like to use the nakshatras and tithis to examine current events so I can learn.

From an astrological perspective, the alignment of a sidereal Virgo Moon, Chitra Nakshatra, and Shukla Dashami tithi perfectly mirrors the sudden, meticulous nature of Alex’s announcement.

Here is how these three distinct Vedic elements reflected her digital rebrand and spiritual pivot:

Part 1: The Clean Sweep (Sidereal Virgo)

1. Sidereal Virgo: The Ultimate Purge and Cleanse

Virgo is the sign of purification, analysis, boundaries, and hard editing.

When the Moon (representing the mind and public emotions) is in Virgo, there is an intense urge to clean house, fix errors, and remove spiritual “clutter”.

Alex did not just make an announcement; she completely wiped her platform clean. This ruthless, systematic erasing of five years’ worth of content used by nearly a million followers is an epic expression of Virgo’s desire to completely excise what it now deems “unclean” or out of alignment.

2. Chitra Nakshatra: Shattering the Illusion to Reveal the Jewel

Chitra translates to “The Brilliant” or “The Beautiful,” and its symbol is a bright, glittering jewel. It is ruled by Mars (action, cutting ties) and presided over by Vishvakarma, the celestial architect.

Chitra has a dual nature. It governs illusions, glamour, and external beauty (like the “your fire sign bestie” internet persona), but it also represents the craftsman who shatters a raw stone to extract the true gem inside.

By transitioning during Chitra, Alex essentially shattered the elaborate, crafted illusion of her tarot identity. Driven by Mars’s cutting energy, she broke down her old digital persona to present what she now views as her true, purified spiritual self.

3. Shukla Dashami: Mastery and Course Correction

The 10th tithi (lunar day) is ruled by the Digpalas (the guardians of the ten directions) and is associated with power, success, and the virtuous mastery of one’s path.

Dashami is a day for firmly establishing a direction. It carries an energy of taking charge of your destiny and choosing a definitive lane, leaving behind the vacillation of earlier lunar phases.

Making the announcement on Dashami reflects a total lack of hesitation. She did not ask her audience for permission or transition slowly; she claimed total authority over her platform, drew a hard line in the sand, and pointed her life in a brand-new directional path.

Later in the day on June 24, 2026, the Moon moved out of Virgo and crossed the threshold into sidereal Libra, while remaining in the final quarters of Chitra Nakshatra and the closing hours of Shukla Dashami.

This energetic shift perfectly captures the transition from Alex’s private, meticulous preparation (Virgo) to the explosive, highly debated public reaction (Libra).

Part 2: The Public Square & The Backlash (The Shift to Sidereal Libra)

1. The Shift to Sidereal Libra: The Court of Public Opinion

Libra is the sign of the scales, governing relationships, contracts, the public eye, and collective balance.

While the Moon in Virgo allowed Alex to quietly hit “delete” in isolation, the Moon’s entry into Libra dragged her actions into the public square. Libra demands equilibrium and fairness. Because Alex kept her audience rather than starting fresh, the public viewed this as a violation of the “social contract” between creator and follower. The scales of Libra felt tipped unfairly, triggering an immediate collective effort by her audience to debate, judge, and restore balance through criticism.

2. Chitra’s Final Quarters: The “Spiteful” Side of Mars

Chitra Nakshatra spans both Virgo and Libra. The half that sits in Libra is influenced heavily by Libra’s ruler (Venus) combined with Chitra’s primary ruler (Mars).

When Mars (aggression, assertion, and conflict) mixes with Venus (relationships, diplomacy, and social contracts) in Chitra, it creates an energy known for sharp tongues, bitter aesthetic critiques, and public disputes. Chitra in Libra can manifest as an obsession with “fair play” that turns highly combative. This explains why the backlash wasn’t just quiet disappointment; it was a loud, fierce debate among major creators calling her actions “unethical” and demanding she delete the account entirely.

3. Shukla Dashami: The Clash of Different Realities

As the 10th tithi, Dashami represents absolute directional mastery and the culmination of an ideal.

Dashami energy does not compromise. Alex used this unyielding energy to state her new, absolute Christian truth. However, her audience, steeped in their own spiritual definitions of truth, clashed against her announcement. It created a literal battle of two opposing spiritual directions, where neither side is willing to back down or find middle ground, cementing the deep divide that still echoes across the platform.

Eh, in two weeks someone will try to hex the moon again or some other such nonsense and we’ll all be on to something else. The world keeps turning. As you were.

There are weeks when progress looks dramatic from the outside, and there are weeks when progress looks like rearranging labels, fixing tiny glitches, and cursing at a screen because one mysterious little 0 keeps attaching itself to people’s names.

This was one of those weeks. I should have been more chatty about it, but I tend to put my head down and work, work, work. Then, when I’m done, I think “No one is interested in hearing about this”, and mosey off to do something else.

But you know what? This was also the week that this began to feel like a real working system.

For anyone new here, Codex Numerorum is the numerology app I’ve been building as a private charting and interpretation tool. It began because I needed something more flexible than a calculator, more serious than a novelty generator, and more aligned with the way I actually read charts. I wanted a place where Vedic-style ank jyotish, Chaldean, and Pythagorean numerological timing, name analysis, compound numbers, Tarot, and my own interpretation library could live together, and I could put all my notebooks into a burn box for the August long weekend bonfire. That’s the projected end date. I want to be able to take all my reference notes and burn them. That burn box is HEAVY.

This week, I spent a lot of time doing the kind of development work that sounds small until you realize it changes how the system can be used.

One of the biggest changes was the addition of a Tarot library inside the Aula Numerorum. The Aula is the interpretation library inside Codex, and until now, it has been focused strictly on the numbers 1-99, which is a task in and of itself. It changed up how things display and added space under each number for natal placements, transits, mitigation, and how the numbers behave in affliction.

Then I added space within the Aula for Tarot cards numbered 1 through 78, with fields for general, positive, and negative interpretations. Then I expanded the structure further so each card can also hold interpretations by area of inquiry: people, relationships, spirituality, work, money, technology, health, and shadow.

I also spent the better part of this afternoon uploading all of the Tarot card images and gave the cards titles in both French and English. That makes me very happy. It gives the system more of the old-world feeling I want it to have, while still keeping it usable, modern, and clear.

Another major update was the continued refinement of name analysis. I don’t want people to feel like their numerology isn’t represented. Like I’ve said before, I am over the whole “Mine is the one and true” nonsense. Codex now allows different alphabet keys. Starting out, I’ve put in Sepharial, Chaldean, and Pythagorean. This matters because numerology is not as monolithic as people often assume. Different schools of thought use different letter values, and now that I’m reaching into my brain and pulling all of this stuff out, more is flooding out of the memory banks and the more interested I become in preserving those differences found in obscure books from 100 years ago instead of pretending there is only one “correct” key.

This also means the app can better support comparison and research. A name can be viewed through more than one lens. That is much closer to how I actually study numerology.

I also continued cleaning up the chart interface. Some of this was pure “dusting the shelves” work: changing labels, making the display clearer, hiding long interpretations behind collapsible buttons, and making sure the language feels like my system rather than borrowed language from somewhere else. For example, I changed certain timing language from “rhythm” to “pattern” because words matter, especially in a field where everyone is building on, reacting to, or trying not to accidentally copy everyone else.

One of my favourite updates this week was the continued development of Western timing inside the app. Codex began with a strong Ank jyotish foundation, but I also use Western numerological timing, including personal years, personal months, personal days, triads, and major planetary cycles. The app now does a much better job displaying those Western timing patterns clearly, including compound and reduced numbers where appropriate.

That is important because compound numbers are a big part of how I read. A 46/1 is not the same as a 10/1 or a 19/1. They all reduce to 1, but they do not arrive there by the same road.

The biggest surprise feature of the week, though, was Relationship charts.

Originally, the app had a “Couple” chart option. That was fine, but it felt too narrow. Not every relationship chart is a romantic couple. People may want to look at spouses, business partners, creative collaborators, families, households, chosen family, or polycules. So the chart type is now called Relationship, and it no longer assumes there are only two people involved.

The Relationship chart now has fields for Person 1 and Person 2 by default, and it can also add additional people. That means Codex can now create charts for groups of three or more people.

More importantly, it worked. The app can now cast, save, archive, and reopen multi-person Relationship charts. It can also remove an added person before casting and correctly return to a two-person chart. There was one really hilarious bug that dogged me this week, involving a stray 0 that kept attaching itself to participant names, but that fun little mother effer has now been banished.

I am especially excited about this feature because it moves Codex away from the usual “compatibility calculator” model. I am not interested in reducing relationship work to “Are we soulmates, yes or no?” Real relationships are more complex than that. Families are complex. Creative partnerships are complex. Households are complex. Polycules are complex. Even a two-person relationship contains more than one storyline. A metaphysical tool should be able to hold that complexity.

Right now, this is my favourite part of what I’ve done, especially after being treated to a fellow numerologist rant on their IG about single mothers and “the gays” -- people like me -- are responsible for everything that is wrong in the world. It won’t fix that individual’s opinion, but it is my small way of letting people know that I see them.

This week also reminded me why I made the app private while I build it. Every time I add something, I find three more things that need to be cleaned up, tested, or renamed. That is not a bad thing. It means the system is growing and becoming more itself. It is being shaped by actual use, not by an imaginary perfect launch day. Every Saturday, I go to The Alchemist to see clients and cast their charts, and I leave there at 5 pm with a list of things I can do better. I am extremely happy about that, just so you know.

At this stage, Codex Numerorum is still very much in development, but it is no longer just an idea. It casts charts. It stores interpretations. It handles multiple systems. It holds Tarot images. It supports different alphabet keys. It is beginning to reflect the way I actually work as a numerologist.

And this week, it learned how to hold more than two people in a relationship chart.

That feels like such a big deal. Next week I want to make that section pretty, but for now, I’m just happy that it’s there.

The original Tarot decks from France and Italy had numerology baked right into them, offering greater insights into our lives. People usually look at these two systems separately, but putting them back together can give you a much richer, more detailed reading of the cards.

Sandor’s number-letter associations are different than Heather’s, and so are his placements/calculations, but don’t let that stop you. He presents a comprehensive exploration of a system that could keep you busy for a very long time.

I consistently talk about these books across all platforms because they are excellent sources of information. The last two have helped me immensely in my prognosticating journey. Liz and Sandor are Pythagorean Numerologists, and Heather is a Chaldean Numerologist. While they may be different, they have more in common than not.

Group 1: The Magician & The Aces

Key Themes: New beginnings, potential, initiation, willpower, self-expression, creation, and individuality.

The number one represents the spark of creation, raw potential, and the courage to begin something new. It’s about stepping into your power and initiating action.

• The Magician: The ultimate manifester, the Magician embodies the active principle of creation. He has all the tools at his disposal and the will to use them to shape reality.

• Sevens (of Wands, Cups, Swords, Pentacles): These cards often depict challenges, illusions, hidden motives, or a need for perseverance and inner reflection.

Divinatory Information:

• Eights (of Wands, Cups, Swords, Pentacles): These cards often show swift action, movement, mastery, hard work, or being trapped by one’s own thoughts or circumstances.

Divinatory Information:

• Positive: Fairness, accountability, achieving mastery through effort, swift progress, karmic balance, and taking powerful, decisive action. The Strength card, when appearing here, highlights the inner fortitude and compassion needed to wield true power and overcome challenges.

• Negative: Injustice, unfair outcomes, being overwhelmed by responsibilities, stagnation, feeling powerless, or being bound by limitations (often self-imposed).

Group 9: The Hermit & The Nines

Key Themes: Completion, wisdom, introspection, solitude, humanitarianism, fulfillment.

The number nine signifies completion, the culmination of a cycle, and the wisdom gained through experience. It often involves a period of solitude for reflection and integration.

• The Hermit: The seeker of truth, embodying introspection, wisdom, and the light of inner guidance. He withdraws to find answers within.

• Nines (of Wands, Cups, Swords, Pentacles): These cards represent completion, satisfaction, self-sufficiency, wish fulfillment, or a final push towards a goal.

Divinatory Information:

• Positive: Reaching completion, attaining wisdom, finding personal fulfillment, self-sufficiency, a time for reflection and spiritual growth, and the culmination of efforts.

Group 10: The Wheel of Fortune & The Tens

Key Themes: Cycles, destiny, turning points, culmination, new beginnings within endings, totality.

The number ten represents the culmination of a cycle, often leading to a new beginning. It signifies destiny, fate, and significant turning points.

• The Wheel of Fortune: Symbolizes cycles, destiny, good luck, and inevitable change. It reminds us that fortunes can turn.

• Tens (of Wands, Cups, Swords, Pentacles): These cards represent the absolute end of a cycle, whether joyous fulfillment, heavy burdens, or the complete ending of a situation.

Divinatory Information:

• Positive: Major turning points, positive karmic shifts, good fortune, the successful culmination of a long journey, and the promise of a fresh start after completion. The Judgement card, when appearing here, signifies a powerful calling or an awakening that leads to a profound new chapter. The World card indicates ultimate completion, integration, and universal understanding.

• Negative: Feeling overwhelmed by fate, a sense of being powerless to change circumstances, burdens of responsibility, or the painful end of a cycle.

Other Major Arcana

• Strength (XI): This card is all about inner power, compassion, and self-mastery. It connects with the vibes of the Twos.

• The Hanged Man (XII): is a variation of the Threes that is all about hitting the pause button, and going within to manifest the change. It means you need to stop and intentionally change your perspective. That shift in viewpoint is key to getting a deeper grasp of things or kickstarting a new creative path.

• Death (XIII): This card is all about an unavoidable end or a major change, kind of like the solid energy of the Fours. Think of it as the necessary clean-up that has to happen to make room for building new, stronger foundations.

• Temperance (XIV): This one’s about finding that sweet spot—balance, healing, and keeping things moderate when you’re going through a tough time or a big change. It’s linked up with the Fives.

• The Devil (XV): This card is tied to the Sixes. Think materialism, feeling stuck because of choices you’ve made, or relationships being out of whack, leaving you feeling less than free.

• The Tower (XVI): This card is like the Sevens—it’s all about sudden shake-ups. Think unexpected chaos, illusions crashing down, and old ways getting totally busted open, clearing the deck for a much better, more honest reality.

• The Star (XVII): Hey, good news! Just like the Eights, this card is all about hope, healing, and getting some divine direction after a rough patch. It’s a fresh start with a clear path forward.

• The Moon (XVIII): This card is linked to the Nines, showing the subconscious path we take to find greater wisdom. It’s all about intuition, facing illusions, and diving into your hidden self to discover who you really are.

• The Sun (XIX): Represents the number One, signifying joy, clarity, vitality, and success. It illuminates the path and brings a successful beginning, but as the 19th card in the procession, it can also mean that there is light at the end of the tunnel!

• Judgement (XX): This one is all about ultimate completion, really bringing everything together, and hitting a major high point. Since it’s a variant of Ten, it means you’ve successfully wrapped up a big cycle!

• The World (XXI): This card connects to the number Three’s significance, which is all about ultimate completion, integration, fulfillment, and successfully finishing a major cycle.

• The Fool (22/0): This card is all about fresh starts and endless possibilities. It’s truly unique—it sits outside the regular numbers, representing the very beginning of the journey. Think of it as the “spirit” of all the numbers, holding the core energy of the whole adventure, both before it kicks off and after it wraps up.

The Court Cards

Everyone who writes about these places, the Tarot court, with different numerical groups. The Court Cards tend to confound people. I see them as relating to the master numbers 11, 22, 33, and 44. Other teachers see them as 11, 12, 13, and 14. Some see them all as corresponding to the number 10.

• The Pages: Pages symbolize transformative events on the horizon. They can also be seen as messengers. As people, they can symbolize learners and beginners who are earnest and well-intended but still need a lot of support. They can also represent someone stepping out into anything new and uncharted.

• The Knights: Knights bring the movement and change heralded by the Pages. They build, and then, in a heartbeat, they tear it all down and do something else. Things are in flux when the Knights arrive on the scene. As people, they can symbolize someone who has just enough skill to work independently, but pushes the envelope because they still don’t know what they don’t know.

• The Queens: The Queens bring things like acceptance, balance, and negotiation to a situation. Things are starting to simmer down when they appear. As people, the Queens embody the nurturing and creative power to guide those around them to master their respective elemental domains. The Queens are influential mentors who teach, inspire, and advocate for those around them.

• The Kings: The Kings bring closure to an issue and demonstrate mastery of lessons related to their respective suits. At the point of the kings, things are either done or internalized. Everyone is moving on to something else. As people, the Kings are those individuals with a capacity for powerful, tangible manifestation and building lasting legacies.

Does anyone else remember 2021-2022? It feels like it was a good fifty years ago. Does anyone remember the Moldavite Girls from TikTok? Where are they? What are they up to these days?

Moldavite took social media by storm after the 2020 Shitshow. The funny thing is, I don’t think most of those young women were wearing actual moldavite.

If you’re wearing a 20-gram stone wrapped in a cute little spiral wire around your neck, that you got on Etsy for $45 back in those halcyon TikTok days, then you aren’t wearing moldavite; you’re wearing some very convincing and fancy glass or lab-generated crystal made in India or China. If your world was upended after putting said stone around your neck, then it was entirely your own mental doing because you heard about it online, the algorithm fed you a bunch of confirming material, you went down a rabbit hole and POOF — you were having a crisis. The old mystical adage about thinking something into existence 150% tracks.

But let’s talk about real moldavite for a moment. I’m seeing more woo about it on the apps; it seems to be enjoying a little resurgence, perhaps because social media memories are so short. I’m not going to bother looking online for any information because everything is the same now that everyone is using AI. Since AI scrapes the internet to learn, it’s learning from itself, and that particular cycle has become a perpetual motion machine of silliness.

I’m going to refer instead to Love Is In The Earth by Melody, one of the books from back in the day that has informed a couple of generations of woo-woo folks.

In general, tektites, which are meteoric glass rather than crystals, encourage gathering knowledge from a wide variety of areas of life. They also encourage travel and movement. Tektites balance the order of things, and while they will hinder pitching a tent and camping out in negative patterns of behaviour, they won’t stand in the way of you learning from your less-than-stellar moments. In fact, the energy of tektites encourages this.

Tektites are known all over the world. I can’t think of a single pre-Industrial culture that didn’t pick up a crystal or stone and not feel something. Tektites in particular were seen as stones of great power. Ancient people knew they were remnants of meteors that had fallen from the sky, and everyone seemed to have held them in high esteem. They were believed to bring wealth, power, fertility, and longevity, and to aid in telepathic communication or in the extraction of knowledge from all over the universe. Having one tektite is believed to increase your chances of finding more tektites, much like the Universal Cat Distribution System guarantees that cats will find you, especially if you already have one.

They can also be used to treat fevers, although I would be remiss if I didn’t tell you to put down the stone and call your doctor if you get sick. Apparently, they can also be used to reduce the transmission of diseases, but again — wash your damned hands, don’t hang out around sick people, and call your doctor if you feel unwell. As a class of stones, they’re considered to be stones “of light”. In general, this class of stones vibrates to the number 9, which is ruled by Mars, although individual tektites will have their own numerological correspondences.

Moldavite is a member of the tektite family. It comes from the former Czechoslovakia ( now the Czech Republic — this book was written before the fall of the Soviet Union). It was formed over fifteen million years ago when a meteorite crashed in the area and created a “strew field” of the glass. Per Melody, “it carries one beyond the mirage of life, to a home from which one has been absent, providing the image of eternity and the vision and energy to translate the image into reality.” It also “expands the scope and magnitude of the vibrational spectrums which one can approach, while allowing a more encompassing passageway to those spectrums of which one already has access; that is, one will ‘see’ more clearly and ‘see’ with an expansion of vision within the vibrational territory to which one has ventured, and/or one will be provided the inter-connection with the multi-dimensional horizons not yet experienced.”

God, I love New Age language; it’s like reading the minutes from a mystical HR meeting out there in the astral plane. It’s so sanitized and soft. No wonder so many young people raised in complete and total political correctness got sucked in. When you’re raised on sanitized therapeutic language, you’re primed to accept dangerous or destabilizing ideas that come wrapped in soft words — and that extends to more than just playing with rocks, folks.

Maybe it’s just my age or the lack of estrogen as I claw my way through perimenopause, but it’s hilarious that New Age writers are describing something with a vibration that could create a mental crisis in a language that sounds like it has been approved by the Department of Galactic Wellness:

“It carries one beyond the mirage of life, to a home from which one has been absent…”

In Plain English: It can make ordinary life feel fake, flimsy, or too small. The person may have an experience of “this cannot be all there is,” or “I have been living inside a cardboard cutout version of reality.” That type of realization can feel beautiful for about five minutes, but it can also make someone suddenly dissatisfied with their job, relationship, identity, routines, beliefs, or entire identity.

…providing the image of eternity and the vision and energy to translate the image into reality.”

In Plain English: You get a glimpse of something vast, meaningful, or transcendent, and then you feel compelled to completely reorganize your life around it. Sometimes this is positive, and it becomes about getting your life in order, seeking sobriety, reinventing yourself, and/or finally leaving the thing you knew you needed to leave. Maybe you write something brilliant or birth some masterful art. These epiphanies can also turn into “I am going to walk away from my spouse, kids, and secure and prosperous life, and move to Sedona and open a starseed cacao temple by Thursday as the Light Lords commanded.” Either way, reorganizing your life around an epiphany, whether it is a positive or negative thing, can be an absolute shitshow during the process.

“Expands the scope and magnitude of the vibrational spectrums…”

In Plain English: Your bandwidth gets wider, and you notice more. You can connect more of the dots at a faster rate. You become more sensitive to symbolism, emotion, synchronicity, intuition, atmosphere, and the patterns of the world that were already there.

And here is a hard truth about that: not every dot is actually connected. Mind-expanding experiences can increase perception, but they can also increase projection. You may see more clearly, or you may simply see more and assume all of it is meaningful.

“…inter-connection with the multi-dimensional horizons not yet experienced.”

In Plain English: You may encounter material outside your usual frame of reference. That can mean spiritual insight, spiritual beings codified in the world’s folklore, psychological material, ancestral stuff, repressed grief, old trauma, creative visions that can come from bright or dark places in your head, or the sudden realization that your entire personality has been held together with a customer-service voice and cold brew.

Translated from New Age corporate astral-speak, this is basically saying that moldavite can blow a hole in your ordinary perception of reality. It can make your regular life feel like a set piece and bring on the sense that there is something larger, older, or more real behind the daily routine, and once you have seen it, you may not be able to comfortably unsee it.

That sounds lovely when softened into phrases like “expanded vibrational spectrums” and “multi-dimensional horizons,” but in plain language, it means this: the filters come off, and you may start noticing more than you know how to process. It can be way too much and cause a mental meltdown. You may become more intuitive, more emotionally porous, more pattern-hungry, and more convinced that everything means something. Your psyche is opening every drawer in the house at once, and the end result can be catastrophic, particularly when you’re taking advice from a bunch of Chapter Three Witches who only became old enough to sidle up to the shooter bar last month and are positioning themselves as experts in 30-second sound-bites.

Nothing is new. Melody’s books were written decades ago, and she most likely dined out on the work of others who had written the same things decades earlier. The authors you’re reading now more than likely have copies of her work, just like I do.

Do I “believe” in any of this? Well, I have a bloodstone sphere that I can hold in my left hand, which starts to tingle, and within thirty seconds, my right hand starts to tingle. On days that I do this, really nice things happen. It’s been like that since the day I found this stone in a shop and picked it up.

I saw a genuine 5-gram piece of moldavite on sale from a reputable seller for about $400, but remember, for a budget-friendly $45 for a fabulous fake on Etsy, you can think yourself right into an existential crisis or spiritual psychosis, Galactic Council optional.

I am processing out loud, and this article will no doubt change as I add or subtract from my current juicy new pet theory about numerology. Am I off base? Are you a numerologist or astrologer with an opinion? Let me know what you think!

In numerology, Karmic Numbers are a small group of specific numbers that signify lessons or debts carried over from previous lifetimes. These numbers—13, 14, 16, and 19—highlight areas where individuals may encounter repeated themes or situations, compelling them to address unresolved issues from their past incarnations.​ Think of it as your soul putting a sticky note on this incarnation. So long as you keep making the same mistakes, you’ll have the same situations in your life. Learning the lessons of your karmic numbers can help you break many of these behaviour cycles in your life. 

Are these issues really from past lives? I don’t want to stomp on everyone’s reincarnation parade because there is certainly a case to be made for it. BUT — and this is a big but — we don’t remember our past lives, so it seems rather cruel of our souls to inhabit a body to live out a life that they can’t really perfect if they don’t remember what it is that they’re here to perfect or fix. A better way to look at these numbers is to reframe them: Karmic numbers are a sticky note on toxic patterns that we have IN THIS LIFETIME. They result from early learning and imprinting and continue because we do not do the work (such as going to therapy or talking to a doctor) involved with changing our behaviour. For some of us, “karmic debt” in action might look like this: 

• Always dating people who cheat 

• Never prioritizing financial necessities over fun things, and always being late with our bills or broke 

• Saying yes to everyone and bailing at the last minute because we just can’t. 

• Not taking care of ourselves: not eating properly, not sleeping, not exercising

• Engaging in gossip and other hurtful types of communication

• Keeping up with the Joneses

• Using people

• Jealousy

• Passive aggression

• Victim blaming others

• Not taking accountability for your shitty decisions

• Projecting your isms onto others

The four karmic numbers are:

• 13: Associated with laziness or misuse of power in a past life, leading to a need for hard work and discipline in the current one.

• 14: Linked to abuse of freedom, suggesting a necessity to learn restraint and adaptability.

• 16: Connected to egotism or abuse of love, indicating lessons in humility and spiritual growth.

• 19: Tied to misuse of power or authority, pointing toward learning independence and compassion.​

These numbers indicate specific karmic lessons, guiding individuals toward personal growth by confronting and overcoming these inherent challenges. ​I also want to sneak one thing in here before we go any further: all numbers have their shadow sides that can be reflected in your chart. You can have zero karmic numbers in your chart and still have a Hefty bag full of toxic shite that you need to stop dragging with you into every situation.

Understanding Karmic Numbers

Karmic numbers are not all “bad”. Like all the other numbers, they have light and shadow sides. Their shadow side tends to be emphasized because it is the stronger of the two. The positive aspects of the Karmic numbers seem to be fleeting or rare. 

Karmic numbers cause issues for chart interpretation because we don’t teach numerologists how to understand their origins. Numerology is a branch of Astrology, but that part of arithmancy seems to have been lost with the emergence of a modern Western system. 

All numbers have a planetary ruler. The rulerships of the numbers 1-9 are:

• 1: The Sun

• 2: The Moon

• 3: Jupiter

• 4: Rahu (The North Node)

• 5: Mercury

• 6: Venus

• 7: Ketu (The South Node)

• 8: Saturn

• 9: Mars

The Karmic numbers are all teen numbers; they all start with 1. Therefore, their energy leads with The Sun and flows into whatever the next number is. 

But in astrology, when The Sun is close to another number, it weakens it. This is called being “combust.” This occurs when a planet forms a conjunction with the Sun within a few degrees. The amount of degrees will vary between planets. 

Combust Planets in Transit

When planets go combust in transit, they temporarily struggle to express themselves externally. Some general effects include:

• Combust Mercury: Can cause communication breakdowns, overthinking, and difficulty expressing thoughts clearly.

• Combust Venus: Can bring reevaluation of relationships and values. Social and financial matters may feel strained.

• Combust Mars: Can create internalized anger, passive-aggressiveness, and frustration in assertive efforts.

• Combust Jupiter: Can cause a temporary crisis in faith, philosophy, or overconfidence.

• Combust Saturn: A time of significant restructuring of long-term responsibilities or feeling stuck in situations you don’t want to be in.

• Combust Moon: This is a period of emotional reset during which feelings go inward, and clarity may be lacking.

The Karmic Numbers and Their Possible Astro-Numerology Links to Combustion

If we apply this idea, we might get something like this:

13 (1 + 3 = 4, Sun + Jupiter = Rahu)

The Sun (1) and Jupiter (3) create impulsive and transformative energy. Since 4 is associated with Rahu, it doesn’t experience combustion—but Jupiter, the ruler of 3, can. This results in a 4 vibration concerned with sudden shifts, rebellion, and abandonment of duty or responsibility to others.

14 (1 + 4 = 5, Sun + Rahu = Mercury)

The Sun (1) and Rahu (4) create an unstable influence that supports situations falling apart or being turned on their ear. Mercury (5) can be combust, and when it is, it creates confusion, manipulation, deception, and lack of discipline—themes found in 14 as a karmic number.

16 (1 + 6 = 7, Sun + Venus = Ketu)

The Sun (1) and Venus (6) can create ego-driven pleasures, which, when taken to excess, result in the fall from grace that 16 is known for. This number can represent the sudden destruction of those things we form attachments to, resulting in ending relationships, job loss, financial ruin, and a complete loss of status in life. 

19 (1 + 9 = 10/1, Sun influence)

The Sun (1) and Mars (9) create fiery, overpowering energy. Since Mars can be combust, 19 represents a person who must undergo karmic purification of ego, power, and ambition. 19 is associated with pride, leadership, potential downfall, and redemption.

Cazimi: Planetary Proximities to the Sun

The bright spot in Karmic number energy! 

Derived from the Arabic term “in the heart of the Sun,” a planet is in cazimi in exact conjunction with the Sun, usually within 16-17 arc minutes of the Sun. However, many astrologers allow a 1° orb of “wiggle room” on either side. Unlike combustion, cazimi is considered a position of great strength, where the planet’s qualities are enhanced and empowered. All things contain a little bit of their opposite, and the cazimi in astrology is a reminder of this. The bright spots in Karmic numbers are similar to the cazimi effects of their associated planetary correspondences. Karmic numbers can reflect some very fortunate and wonderful things in the lives of those who have them in their birth charts. For example, in Taylor Swift’s Expanded Life Path Chart, she has Karmic 13/4 and 16/7, as do many other billionaires. 

• The Karmic 13/4 vibration is associated with luck, great wisdom, and spiritual revelation or discovery, similar to the Jupiter cazimi.

• Karmic 14/5 is associated with breakthroughs in thinking, writing, communication, and learning, similar to Mercury cazimi.

• The 16/7 Karmic number pattern, similar to the Venus cazimi, is associated with financial windfalls, outrageously considerable life successes, and short, torrid love affairs. 

• The 19/1 Karmic number vibration is taught to most numerologists as a number of karmic blessings, where we are blessed with the forward momentum to kick ass, take charge, and bust through challenges quickly and easily, similar to the energy of the Mars cazimi. 

I need to get up earlier to stay on top of these things.

While I was tweaking this in the doctor’s office waiting room this morning as a prediction to be made, Justin and his people beat me to it and announced it during my allergy shot.

Damnit!!! Justin, you were supposed to let me know in advance when this was happening. I had a busy morning.

We all knew this was coming at some point this week, either today or tomorrow, but definitely before Wednesday. Originally, my post was going to discuss which of the two days was most likely, but I settled on today. So, even though I am late to the party by a little over an hour, I am going to share the numerology of this decision and why I chose it.

We need to look at two charts, Canada’s and Justin Trudeau’s because this decision affects the country as a whole and him as a person.

Justin Trudeau is running an 18/9 personal year. This personal year energy began for him on his most recent birthday, December 25. Yup, he’s a Christmas bébé. He is running a 16/7 Triad, a 30/3 personal month, and today is a 36/9 personal day for him.

Canada is running a 16/7 personal year. This personal year energy began for Canada on her most recent birthday, July 1. She is experiencing her second Triad of 11/2, a personal month of 17/8, and a personal day of 23/5.

So, in an 18/9 personal year, we wrap things up. Whatever ends during this cycle is likely not to be repeated. If it does come back for a second hurrah, it’ll likely be brief and get wrapped right the F up quickly. What does that mean? It means that this will likely never happen again for Mr. Trudeau. Given that he’s also in a 16/7 Triad - 16 is a Karmic number that The Tower in Tarot symbolizes, and 7 is ruled by Ketu (South Node) - he’s done living up to the family image. The Triad and Year energy are both powerful. I suspect that a lot of things are going to crumble away now, in earnest, because once you step forward and let the other shoe drop, that tends to be the cue the Universe needs to sweep away EVERYTHING that might be stuck to your leg, holding you back from the next portion of your life’s journey.

On his birthday this year, December 25, 2025, he will end the Power phase of his life and step into his Wisdom phase, but that’s a whole other set of numbers. For now, know that he is approaching the numerological equivalent of a Saturn Return, and it's starting to show. I wouldn’t be surprised if he gets divorced and comes all the way out of the closet this year because he is running a 9 Triad for the second four-month block of time in his personal year, followed by a 26/8 Triad, which can be seen as being Karmic in nature. He will enter his Wisdom phase under a 19/1 Karmic year, so his life won’t stop being interesting, but it will probably be a lot more self-focused and less political.

His personal day energy today is 36/9. Another ending, but not just any ending. You know how much I love the Tarot, so if you’ve got a pictorial deck, pull it out and look at the 36th card, which happens to be the 10 of Wands. Not only are there ten new beginnings, but they’ve also got a little purse in the form of that 0. You can be sure there are hesitations whenever a 0 is attached to a 1. The tens in the minor arcana are all new beginnings because 1+0=1, but simultaneously, they are like hesitations because they aren’t fully 1. That 0 is like a drop of water quivering on the edge of the tap, hesitating, before the surface tension in the drop releases and the water falls down to the tap below, to be carried away by the plumbing out to the great wide world, to begin the cycle again. So what we see here is a personal day energy where "something’s gotta give.” If you look at the picture on the 10 of Wands, it exemplifies this sort of ending quite nicely: the man in the foreground is carrying a heavy load and home is in sight. He can put all those sticks down and walk home if he wants, or he can keep trudging like a soldier and suffer the rest of the way back to safety and happiness. It’s not a balanced load, and if he’s not careful, the Universe will come along. POOF! Problem solved, the sticks are on the ground, you’re free to go - NOW GIT ON OUTTA HERE!!!

Either way, he is set free.

I’ve also noticed that recently, the press has not been filtering the F out of his photos, so Justin is actually looking middle-aged these days, yoga or not. You know it’s bad when the press no longer photoshopping you to look like you’re in your 50s going on 37.

Enter Canada’s chart!

To recap: my country is running a 16/7 Personal Year that began on July 1 last year. She’s in her middle Triad of 11/2, running a personal month transit of 17/8 and a personal day transit of 23/5.

What the hell does all that mean?

A 16/7 year is a Karmic year of restructuring. The 7 pattern starts out as 16, indicating a crisis time. Ketu’s detaching nature can cause political instability, power struggles, or the sudden downfall of leaders. It also supports civil unrest or public discontent with the government, often reflecting power imbalances, whether perceived or actual. A 16/7 personal year for a nation can also support potential divisions or separatist movements within the country.

Canada, are you ok? I may be Canadian, but we don’t get much news about you in the USA besides that long-ass postal strike right before Christmas. Many of you have told me you can’t even see my TheNumerologyLady FB page because you can’t access news outside Canadian news sources. I feel like my country right now is like that girl we all know who we suspect is being abused. She always looks good in public, but she can’t talk about anything because her boyfriend never leaves her alone long enough for her to call up a friend.

Blink twice if you need help, Canada.

Anyway, moving right along. An 11 vibration corresponds to Pluto and carries that same energy within it, so within all that, Karmic 16/7 is a time of sweeping transformation and more than likely a lot of “I didn’t have this on my bingo card" politically. This transit supports and emphasizes political instability, infighting, demonstrations, and rapid changes to outdated systems that need to get packing. The two transits together support the sudden downfall of leaders (although, strictly speaking, if the leader doesn’t suddenly fall over dead from a massive heart attack, the only people who are going to think any downfall is sudden are the members of the public who aren’t part of any inner circle), disruptive issues with trade and just a generally shitty time of complete turnaround. This Triad energy started running on November 1 and will last until the end of February. Canada begins a 21/3 Triad at this point, but we can look at that another day.

The personal day for Canada is 23/5. A person’s chart shows that a 23/5 transit is tremendously lucky. It’s hard to screw it up. You can Mr. Magoo your way through everything and still come out on top. In a country’s or a ruler’s/king’s chart, 23/5 has a different meaning, especially within these bomb-ass transits. Ruled by fixed star Regulus and referred to as the Royal Star of The Lion, a 23/5 day transit within an 11 Triad and a 16/7 Personal Year is a short, sharp transit that knocks over the king and paves the way for new leadership - so get your popcorn ready because the rest of Canada’s year is going to have some interesting political dance steps as everyone’s horns really start to pop out. Interestingly enough, Regulus is part of the constellation of Leo, which in the Kaballah corresponds to 11 and the Strength card.

In case you want to feign ignorance, let’s have a refresher:

Luigi Mangione is the 26-year-old young man who gunned down the CEO of United HealthCare, as he was going to a meeting in Manhattan. Currently, the misinformation campaign that frequently accompanies these events is in full swing because we need to ensure everyone starts chasing their tails when The Poors galvanize behind a person or event. Remember that, folks. Even the prisoners where he’s being held have his back!

This is a Core Chart, which is the numerological equivalent of an astrological Natal Chart. There really is no standard in the field of numerology for what a core chart should look like, so this is how I do it. If you are a numerologist, your charts, calculations, and resulting values may be different.

His birthday placements will never change, so let’s look at them first. 

Luigi was born on the 6th of May. People born on the 6th are caretakers. Ruled by Venus, this vibration is compassionate, and fun. These folks like to add a little pizzazz to everything they do. Idealistic, they are big on fairness.

People born on the 6th really want to help those less fortunate. They have strong ties to family and a big interest in community events. 

They also suffer tremendously and I will explore this more when we examine his Life Path and Cornerstone energies. 

His Life Path is a 38/11. A lot of bloggers and New Age content creators have painted Master Numbers as these happy sappy number forces that do nothing but bring us tonnes of money and joy. Not really. 

As an 11 Life Path, Luigi probably enjoys being in the spotlight. He is probably every bit as good as all the other folks with Master Number placements at stirring the old pot to his advantage. That 6 Birth Number tells me that he is excellent at rallying support for or against a thing. It also tells me that he most likely uses his Master 11 over-the-top tendencies for others. Most Master Life Path people that I have done charts for have also lead lives with a lot of upheaval. 

The 38 that reduces to 11 provides some ostentatious qualities to his life path energy. It also adds courage, a strong belief in themselves and whatever plans they have, and a heavy dose of intuition. The Tarot correspondence is the Queen of Cups – psychically sensitive, a little dramatic, but an otherwise helpful person with a kind heart. 

People with master numbers in their charts are here to do big things that move us forward. They correspond to the outer planets, whose energies are cultural and generational. They are all here to move us forward collectively however they can.

This Life Path combined with his 6 Birth Day produces someone who very much feels the suffering of others and feels called to do something about it. Master 11s can become very obsessive and single-focused about these sorts of things.

Now let’s look at the energy in his birth name, Luigi Nicholas Mangione. I will state right now that I pulled his name off the internet so I have no way of knowing if it’s spelled correctly or if this is his full name. I am going to assume that the journalist who shared this name is correct. Just putting that out there. 

His Cornerstone energy is L/12. The 12 reduces to a 3 but we need to look at that 12 first because it is important. This placement infuses the whole chart. 

The 12/3 vibration is sacrificial. Relating to The Hanged Man of the Tarot, this energy pattern sees the world differently. Reducing to the 3, we can describe the L Cornerstone as loving, unconditional, spiritual, and peaceful. Like The Empress, card 3 of the Tarot, the letter L embodies getting in the thick of things, rolling up one’s sleeves, and being an active community member. In this regard, the L Cornerstone can also be a gathering force summoning support for or against a thing. The 12 root energy brings things to completion and those with this cornerstone will finish what they start. The letter L in a name also brings sacrifice foe others – much like The Hanged Man. 

The Expression placement of his birthname totals to 42/6. This reflects a friendly and cooperative nature. The Tarot correspondence is the 2 of Cups. These people are gentle, imaginative, good-looking, and can be strongly spiritual. They have a sensitive nature and are deeply affected by the things that go on in the world, particularly things that involve children. These folks are generous and draw people to them. People feel very relaxed and able to be themselves in their presence. They believe in doing the right things nad have no time or energy for people who are out to fulfill selfish ends. 

His Heart placement is 31/4. This creates some conflicted energy in his chart. The corresponding Tarot card is the 5 of Wands. These people are fighters. They fight for what they want and what they believe in. This particular placement gives a strongly competitive drive, a kind of “The game is ON” energy. After I’m done talking about each placement, I’ll be looking at the aspects created in his chart. This placement is important and I’m sure anyone who knows their Tarot knows why. 

The 4 in 31/4 is stubborn and fierce. Most of the time numerologists see 4 as being very solid and dependable but the 31 compound make this a radical 4 energy. If there is structure and direction, and the person in question can be cooperative, then this can become a highly productive energy capable of moving mountains. As a heart number, our dear Luigi can feel that he competes with others, measuring himself very sternly. This can create a strong inner drive, though, and a desire to always do better. 

His Destiny placement is a 73/1. The Tarot correspondence is the 5 of Pentacles. As a 1 Destiny, this would show a person who prices independence above all and uses their resources for themselves. There is little concern for others but that is not what we see, is it? Remember that the compound number is important because a 73/1 is not going to be the same as a 19/1 or a 10/1 and so on. A 73/1 is radically different than the other 1 vibrations. I haven't really discussed the planetary rulerships of numbers but I will here: 7 is ruled by Ketu and 3 by Jupiter. So astrologer, imagine if Ketu (South Node) and Jupiter were waltzing - and Ketu was leading. The 7 vibration reaches into the void through the fog, seeking answers - and 3 is only too happy to help it on its way. This vibration is about the kingdom of heaven within and eschewing all the things that normally resonate with the 1 vibration, particularly as it pertains to a Destiny placement. It is about finding one's inner light. Fear is not a part of this destiny energy so there is a high degree of self-confidence. Part of this particular destiny placement is wrapped up in being an inspiration to others. Another part of this destiny is tied up with confronting abuse and shaking things up.

To look at aspects, I want you to visualize a circle. The Cornerstone is in the middle and the other placements encircle around it. The Cornerstone infuses all of these placements with its energy because just as a cornerstone in construction sets the entire building, this placement influences the whole chart. 

The aspect created with his Expression number is beautiful energy. He's a friendly and flirty young man. No doubt he's popular and friends with a lot of people. This aspect creates attractiveness and he has that in spades. He's a good-looking man. This is a magnetic and non-threatening aspect, so he probably draws a lot of people to him. They feel comfortable around, and most likely, safe. He can disarm you with a smile. 

People with this aspect in their charts have a clawing pathological need for peace and harmony. They can have whole-body responses to arguments and fights. Regardless of their position on an issue, they'll be the first ones to extend the olive branch because they don't want to leave things unresolved. 

They enjoy beautiful, comfortable surroundings. As much as he has such strong Ketu minimalism energy informing his Destiny, he probably still has a collection of something. This is a wealth aspect and we do know that he comes from a wealthy family, so he doesn't have to struggle - he can have the nice things that this aspect supports. Given that his L gives 12 energy before it gives 3, he is probably generous. 

This aspect is strengthened by his 6 Birth Day. 

The aspect formed with his 31/4 Heart Number is important. There is a lot of wisdom and thought in the energy created by this aspect. Sometimes it's too much for one head. The 31/4 vibration lends a chaotic magnitude to his ideas but that L/12 placement slows them down - somewhat. This means he still has radical ideas but doesn't act on them impulsively. He's a planner. This aspect produces an individual who is here to make radical changes that will have an impact on society, not just a handful of people. He's here to make big ripples in the water. This aspect can involve notoriety and the actions produced can even have a global impact. 

The aspect formed with his 73/1 Destiny is ironic but not wrong. For the career-minded, this can produce great opportunities in the field of law or any niche that requires research and investigation. 

I'm telling you, irony is not dead. 

It also gives confidence and authority. There is a willingness to step up to the plate and lead others within this aspect. It also supports following the correct path and doing what is right, regardless of convention. As the 7 in his Destiny corresponds to Ketu, there is an element of karma there as well. 

His Public Name

We don’t work with the energy of our full name 99.9% of the time. It is our baseline energy, though, and it continues to send out vibrations. I look at the name at birth as the very first spell cast on our behalf. Our public name is often a modification of this energy and shows what we are working with in our public/daily lives. 

The individual placements

His first name doesn’t change so the Cornerstone remains the same. I won’t reiterate it. 

His Expression is a 23/5 vibration. This is important. 23 is one of my favorite numbers. It is called The Royal Star of the Lion and relates to Regulus, a star in the constellation of Leo. The corresponding Tarot is the King of Wands. All of the kings in the Tarot correspond to a Royal Star.

Where 23/5 shows up, powerful forces are at work, protecting and guiding you. This is a karmic reward number. It promises success and guarantees help from those in high places. 

As an Expression number, it can lead to fame. Reducing to 5, it also has correspondence to Mercury. People see him as quick thinking, fast on his feet, and very intelligent. He is probably a quick study and retains information well. This particular emmanation of 5 is agile, strong, and active. It is also a number of research and investigation. Loyal and passionate, this is an expression that thrives on challenges and adventure. There is an ambitious nature and an inheritance vibration within this placement. 

The Heart number of his daily name is Master 22. The Tarot correspondence is The Fool. Within this master number is the potential to affect the world on a grand scale. Many people out there have master energy in their charts but few actually achieve what they are capable of. There’s no shame in it, the master number energies are on par with the outer planets: Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto. They’re powerful, overwhelming influences. Most of the clients that I have read charts for, who have master energy, have often had difficult lives. 

There is a strong wealth vibration within the 22/4 but at the same time, a strong philanthropic energy. These folks attract people to them and this is their greatest resource. People want to be around those with master number energy. 

As a Heart number, this indicates continuing work done in a past life. Not every heart number has a past life connotation but this one does. The idea is to leave the world a better place than when you found it. Like The Fool, it is difficult to keep your feet on the ground when this is your heart energy. 

Master 22s can be scary psychic, especially as children. I have no idea if this – well, if anything I’ve written this evening applies to Luigi – but I’m letting the consciousness stream. There’s a good chance that he was what we would call a “gifted” child because of this connection to Spirit. These folks can also be incredible dupes, trusting absolutely the wrong people. Like The Fool their intentions are noble and honest but they can be easily manipulated. Impressionable, they need to learn to discern fantasy from reality. 

His Destiny as Luigi Mangione shifts to a 45/9. The Tarot correspondence is the 5 of Cups. With a 9 Destiny, there are a lot of challenges. He is here to close things out – that is his gift. Like the 73/1 Destiny of his full name at birth, this one is about affecting change on a large scale and the energy is similarly impersonal. In the 73/1 Destiny the distance and lack of attachment to the outcome comes from 7 leading the compound number and in his daily name, the detachment comes from the Mars energy in the 9. This is one of the ways in which the Chaldean interpretation of number energy differs from the Pythagorean school of thought. The 9 vibration can be a humanitarian but it is still emotionally distant; not the “Buy the world a Coke” energy in the Pythagorean interpretation of 9.

9 Destinies are the closers. Ambitious, assertive, and sometimes aggressive, they have a  job to do and they’d like to get to it. They thrive in challenging situations and where most people see walls to scale, they see speedbumps. Precise, calculating, and smart as hell, they never met a rule they couldn’t bend and twist like a pretzel. 

As a 45/9 the flavor of this placements expands to include the mystical. Composed of 4/Rahu and 5/Mercury there is a deep abiding hunger that will never be fully satisfied with worldly success and it’s trappings. These people sympathize with the unfortunate and the underdogs. They are eager to set things right. 

This vibration is generous and loves to play either Big Daddy or Robin Hood – it does not matter, so long as they get to go forth and be in command – or think that they are. Don’t bring up the past, especially past hurts or failures or you’ll find out that they aren’t as iron tough as you thought. Secretive about their pasts, they are also expert compartmentalizers when it comes to hiding their pain – until they can’t – and then like the God of War, its payback time. 

Public Name Aspects

That is a very different set of placements compared to his birth energy, eh? And yet they go well together, so let’s visualize a circle once more, with his Cornerstone placement in the middle and encircle it with these numbers. 

The aspect with his 23/5 Expression contains within it directness, courage, fearlessness, and a touch of the Sacrificial King. When we look at the 3 energy of the reduced cornerstone the aspect will give fame, but it’s not a stable aspect because of the 12 compound. It’s like fame comes, but at a price – or the fall is steep. Self-control, stupid screw-ups, and overconfidence usually preced the fall so if you have this aspect and find yourself suddenly famous, be humble and tread carefully. Heavy is the head that wears the crown. 

The aspect formed by his 22 Heart shows a strong yearning for freedom, specifically liberation. The energy created by this placement in his public name chart creates opportunities, disruption, and awakenings. With this type of energy comes rebellion. It is also possible that in giving oneself over to the yearnings of this heart energy one lets down those closest to them. Quite often aspects with 22/4 energy conflict with the core traditions and values that we are raised with, versus what we learn or have experienced about the world around us. This can cause us to turn our backs on things that our peers, especially our elders, hold close. It is difficult to predict where this particular aspect will take someone in life because like The Fool, people with Master 22 placements are moving forward without knowing where the journey will take them. It won’t be anywhere boring, that’s for certain – and it seems to have taken Mr. Mangione to center stage. 

The energy created by the interaction between his Cornerstone placement and public Destiny placement creates perfect timing. It produces a destiny that involves big kick-offs for the long haul. There’s great starter and finisher energy in this aspect. The energy of Rahu in the 45/9 is strong. Rahu rules social media and notoriety. Mercury/5 rules communication, intelligence, and the desire to share information on a grand scale. Together they produce a 9 Destiny that assures a big stage and a lot of ambitious, precise energy to keep things in motion for a long time to come. This is a success aspect and those with this placement have this energy to draw upon, to propel themselves or their cause forward. When Rahu and Mercury are having a beer on the back deck together, things can get out of hand quickly, though, and what starts as a noble or great idea morphs into something terrible or disastrous that you can’t just walk away from. 

How these aspects from one name to the other play with each other

OK, so let's peel back another layer to this onion since I'm already going down the rabbit hole.

The energy between his Birth Expression and Public Expression is interesting. The 23/5 vibration with the 42/6 vibration creates an energy that supports opportunities, fame, and abundance. If you go overboard, though, if you abuse this energy, the fall is steep.

The energy between his Birth Heart (22) and Public Heart (31/4) gives a liberal sprinkling of "Who gives a shit about the rules?" This energy can support a thought process that goes something like, "If you want this thing, you have to be willing to do what others won't do." It can be very determined energy that can show up as a life-changing invention or very delusional. There can be a lot of struggle where 4 shows up in a chart. 22/Uranus and 4/Rahu can show up as being very detached or disconnected emotionally and behave very unpredictably.

The energy between his Birth Destiny (73/1) and Public Destiny (45/9) can create a struggle within that can boil over into the outside world when things reach their breaking point. 1/Sun is the divine king and 9/Mars is his general. The king rules and the general strategizes. There is always an element of dynamic tension between these two placements because the general always wants to overthrow the king. If 9/Mars takes the wheel then a clash can happen, resulting in arguments, abusive behavior, and violence. All it takes is for one thing - one straw to break the camel's back - and the energy formed between these two numbers can explode.

So there you have it, this is Luigi’s Core Chart as I see it. I have not watched anyone else assess this, although I know my social media feeds are full of astrologers giving hot takes. I have scrolled on by, so as not to be influenced. Remember, this is not a predictive chart. This is a look at how his birth information shapes him and what he’s doing with that energy in his public identity. He could just as easily become an accountant and use this energy to do something like rise up and take over PWC or become a well-known physician who develops a life-saving surgical technique. We all get a road to walk but our choices dictate what kind of journey we have.

There are two main models in readings:

The Fate-Based Model

• Believing that the future is locked. "The psychic said this would happen and so it will."

• Being locked into a specific sequence of events and judging one's success by meeting or experiencing these things. "It didn't happen the way it was supposed to so I failed/I was unlucky/I am a shite manifestor."

• Believing that something is "meant to be" and not wanting to entertain other options. 

• Saying yes to something that is being offered because you "should". 

• Engineering situations to create one specific outcome with no reflection on whether or not this is for your highest good.

The Model Of Choice

• Just because an opportunity exists does not mean that we should take just that one or that we should not investigate or entertain other options.

• "Because it is being handed to you on a silver platter" is not always a good reason to turn your life upside down. 

• Interpreting insights gained during a reading as but one way the future could unfold, based on the choices you are making in the now.

• Using things like business plans, goal-setting, or vision boards as guideposts and not absolutes. 

• Allow for unexpected events and things beyond your control to shift the direction of your life's path

I am a much bigger fan of the choice-based model of chart interpretation. The fate-based model is how many readers operated for centuries. In fact, it is how many still do today. It simply isn't how I like to proceed. There are always options and I like to explore them with clients. Will I point out the potential for a fate-based prediction to come true? Absolutely. Will I also show the client how they can make changes to affect the outcome? You're darned tootin' I will. 

A business plan that tells you "Do this, then this" isn't a bad thing. Neither is a diet plan that tells you specifically what to eat on different days of the week. Computer programs that predict business traffic and expected sales for the upcoming quarter aren't bad, either. These are all manifestations of the fate-based model at work in our daily lives. 

They become limiting when nothing else is considered. Is a diet menu that spells out your meals teaching you how to make better food choices? Do you know what to eat if you don't have those particular items? Is it helping you to understand what you're eating? 

Does your business plan make room for your business to grow and develop as a result of the choices that need to be made every day? Is it growing your business? Does your software program consider weather patterns or other things that divert customer traffic like roadwork? 

When we operate from a fate-based perspective, we're always hanging back, waiting to see what will happen. When we try to see exactly what will happen before it does - so we can "prepare for it" - this can create a self-fulfilling prophecy. The two problems I see emerging from this are:

• We are powerless, waiting for this thing to just happen to us. When it doesn't happen we look for someone to blame, we go after the prognosticator for being wrong, or we feel unlucky - all depending on the prediction, of course. 

• We fail to notice or we discount where we succeeded. 

When we operate from a choice-based perspective, we choose how to react as we come around the corner. We are not waiting fearfully, with full armor on, for the attack to happen because we have locked ourselves into a chain of events that must end in a specific way.

We can head forward at full throttle, knowing there will be bumps and that we will adjust accordingly as we meet the universe halfway. We may have less control over the events that life throws at us - we don't have more control in the fate-based model, but we feel like we do - but we will become expert navigators and proceed fearlessly with greater resilience. 

I am continuing my exploration of mundane numerology by examining an event that has just occurred. A few days ago, a huge storm swept through my area. I got through it just fine with only a downed internet line to worry about, which was fixed this morning. The city of Rome, NY, did not fare so well as a tornado touched down and carved a swath through the area. Having nothing to do for a few days because the internet was gone, I sat down with a journal and cast a chart for Rome.

Often, cities have multiple "birth dates" so in this case I used the day that the State of NY recognized Rome as a city: February 23rd, 1870.  The total sum of the numbers in this date add to a 23/5 Life Path.

The day of the tornado was July 16, 2024. This adds to a 22. I will be referring to this as a "universal 22" because as a calendar date, its energy is universal to all.

The universal year energy for 2024 is 8.

So let's construct a core chart for Rome:

1. Cornerstone: R/20 (Judgment)

1. Life Path: 23/5 (King of Wands)

1. Expression: 33 (7 of Wands)

1. Heart: 21/3 (The World)

1. Destiny: 54/9 (Page of Swords)

FYI, this would be the core chart of any city or town named Rome, except for the Life Path information. So Rome, Italy would have a different Life Path but the same Expression, Heart, Destiny, and Cornerstone. The energetic tools both communities use are the same but they are being used on a different road in life.

Let's construct a year chart for Rome, NY:

1. Personal year: 15/6 (The Devil)

1. Personal month: 12/3 (The Hanged Man)

1. Personal day: 28/1 (2 0f Wands)

1. The tornado struck at 15:25 (3:25 pm). 14:16 to 15:31 was the Hour of Mars, based on the Chaldean order of the planets and the timing of sunrise and sunset on that day. Planetary hours have nothing to do with clock hours. They won't be in neat little 60-minute blocks. Why am I using this? The timing of the tornado is relevant and we will never truly know the birth time of the city to calculate the personal hours and minutes for that day. The planetary hour tracks, however.

1. The Triads for Rome's personal year are 18/9 (Feb 23rd to June 23rd symbolized by The Moon in Tarot), 13/4 (June 23rd to October 23rd symbolized by Death in Tarot), and 11 (October 23rd to February 23rd symbolized by Strength in Tarot).

The first thing I notice is the repetition of 23, in the day of birth and in the Life Path. This number is often called The Royal Star of the Lion and relates directly to Regulus, one of the Royal Stars of Persian astrology. It is an extremely fortunate number to have in one's core chart and the City of Rome has it twice! The presence of this number does not prevent bad things from happening but its presence tells me that negative things have positive outcomes. Having a 23 in your chart is like having a guardian angel to protect you. As someone with a 23 in their chart who is also surrounded by repeating 23s, who has Mr. Magooed my way through life, I can attest to the benefic power of 23.

But that's all just for trivia. It doesn't point to the tornado although it does foreshadow that things will work out well for the city. If you're a resident reading this OR a victim of another tornado in another town OR you have survived any other type of disaster AND you're reading that, AND you're thinking to yourself, "Well this is a load of horseshit. I lost my house because of this weather, how is this lucky?" I am not talking about the individuals within the community. I am doing a chart for the city itself. Individual charts for people will tell me about those people and their circumstances.

So let's get into it!

Rome NY's personal cycles begin on the 23rd. The city's personal year runs from February 23rd of one year to February 23rd of the next year. Its months run from the 23rd to the 23rd. This obviously does not line up neatly with the calendar but here we are. The year is divided into three monthly blocks of time called Triads. Rome is experiencing its second triad, which started on June 23rd of this year. This particular triad is symbolized by 13/4 which not only corresponds to the Death card in Tarot but is considered a karmic or malefic number in numerology. So the period from June 23rd to October 23rd is under a karmic influence. We in the West see karma as a system of punishment but that is not true. Every action produces karma. Its like a wheel that never stops turning. All outcomes are a production of everything before them. I am explaining this because I know how the Western mindset interprets things and Rome is not being "punished" with a tornado because of anything karmic.

A karmic period in numerology reflects a time when situations will arise that allow for "unfinished business" to be dealt with. We are talking about the whole period, though, not just the day of the tornado. In particular, a 13/4 karmic influence specifically reflects a time of death/transition and a complete change of life. So basically, the universe is going to keep sending Rome opportunities to change during this karmic period. The 13/4 period brings change and transition by supporting opportunities to clean up messes, literal and figurative.

Now numerology was developed by the ancient Chaldeans and was originally a branch of astrology. So you're going to learn a little bit about planets and signs. The number 13 reduces to 4. The number 4 is ruled by Rahu/the North Node. In numerology 4/Rahu presides over complete and total overhauls and disruptive events. When 4/Rahu is supported that disruption can occur in violent ways such as through civil uprisings, mobs........or tornadoes. Rahu is definitely suppported in this chart. The root number 13 corresponds to the sign of Scorpio and is ruled by Mars. In astrology the planet Mars relates to aggression and violence and in mundane astrology - the astrology of events in the world - Mars can relate to natural disasters, accidents, and uprisings. The personal year for Rome is 15/6. The number 15 corresponds to the sign of Capricorn. In astrology, when Mars enters the sign of Capricorn we say that Mars is exalted. Mars is a welcome guest in Capricorn's space. Being that the personal year for Rome is a number that corresponds to Capricorn, any numerical energies supported by Mars will be "well fed". The number 13 is ruled by Scorpio, which in turn is ruled by Mars. It's a strong energetic aspect created by these two numbers. Because 4 is the end result of 13, the energies of Rahu are also well-supported.

If reading that made you cross-eyed, here is the least you need to know about this part of the chart interpretation: The energy during this triad is conducive to reflecting big, destructive, sudden events that will disrupt and derail the current order of things to force a new path that needs to happen.

Why do I keep using words like reflecting and supporting? I say those words because numerology, like astrology, is reflective and not causal. This means that numbers and planets don't cause things to happen, they serve as a mirror to reflect what is happening: As above, so below. Certain energies support each other just as certain energies take away from each other.

Let's narrow it down from the Triad and look at the Personal Month

The personal month that we are looking at for Rome, NY, began on the 23rd of June. Like personal years, personal months also begin on the day of birth. Rome's day of birth is the 23rd so all personal months begin the 23rd. Again, like the personal year, this does not line up neatly with the calendar months.

The personal month that we are concerned with began on June 23rd. So Rome's June energy is still being experienced and will continue for a few more days. The personal month energy vibrates to a 12. This is a number of sacrifice and is symbolized in the Tarot by The Hanged Man and also corresponds to the Zodiac sign of Pisces. Events that manifest during a time period ruled by 12 are often unseen and unnoticed until it is too late to stop them OR they can be events that people may feel powerless to deal with. Wrapped up within these events is often an opportunity to start a new chapter in life if those involved will consider a new point of view or new way of doing things. So the energy of this personal month supports everything I just wrote above, in regards to the triad energy.

Let's drill down even further to the Personal Day

The personal day energy for Rome, NY, on July 16th, 2024 was 28/1. This is symbolized by the 2 0f Wands. This number is associated with law, loss, and the hand of God. It is tied up with battles for security and things coming out of left field. On a more positive note, it is also connected with intuitively knowing what to do in a crisis and taking responsibility for those around you. Before reducing to a 1, the 28 first reduces to a 10. The 10 vibration is therefore a hidden influence. This number is symbolized by the Wheel of Fortune. Its quiet presence in the personal day energy of Rome supports the city being unexpectedly thrown into a situation that will occur suddenly and end abruptly.

If Rome was a person and I was reading their chart for this day, I would probably tell them that today would not be a good day to eat buffet, drive without a seat belt, jaywalk, or get into it with anyone. On the flip side, this is a chart that shows support for sudden fame.

Let's have a peek at the universal energy for that day

Two things strike me about the universal day energy for the 16th. First, it is indeed the 16th. This number is ruled by Mars and is symbolized by The Tower in Tarot. It is a number of disaster and catastrophe, injuries, anger, aggressive acts, and structures being torn down - hence why The Tower card is the 16th card in the deck. Even though it is ruled by Mars, this type of disaster supported by the 16 number vibration relates to severe storms and floods.

If we add the numbers of the full date, we get 22. This is symbolized by The Fool in Tarot. This number pattern is ruled by Uranus, the planet of the unconventional, unplanned, the great disruptor. If you start to research the number 22, you will see that it shows up a lot in disasters and accidents. In his book, "The 11:11 Code", numerologist and engineer Charles J. Wolfe discusses how often the number 22 shows up in complex mathematical calculations related to growth and destruction.

Now, does all this mean that if you should happen to come across a string of numbers like this certain and unfortunate doom will arrive in the form of a tornado? No, it does not. As I said in my post about the numerology of The Titanic, the thing about studying disasters that have already occurred is we have a way of looking at the many ways in which such energy can manifest because it's already happened. Had a storm cell not been traveling through this area on that day, something completely different but most likely also big and unexpected, would have manifested. Energy takes the path of least resistance.

Adding another layer: Energetic Timelines

The energy of a personal month runs similarly to a moon cycle. This cycle can be applied to personal months and days as well. Let's look at Rome's personal year.

1. June 23rd: old personal month ends, new one begins

1.  June 30th: first action point

1. July 8th: peak point

1. July 16th: second action point

1. July 23rd: old personal month ends, new one begins

Action point energies are similar to squares in astrology - they're times when you may feel pressed to do something. Anything. It is at these points in time that we might find ourselves cagey. We can ignore the energy and things will still happen. This type of scheduling can be applied to the personal year as well. I was taught to give a three day leeway in a personal month and a seven day leeway in a personal year. So the energy for the June 30th action point could be felt on the 29th, 30th, and 31st or 1st. Interestingly, the tornado occurred on the day of the second action point for that personal month. This is a fairly modern practice developed in the 1970s by numerologist and astrologer Dusty Bunker. The only numerologist I've ever met that actually uses it in predictions or analysis is me.

I have found that this energetic timeline is fairly accurate in that it shows how energy cycles. Try it with your personal months and years. It can also be used to clock the energy flow in a personal day although without an exact "birth time" for the city, I don't want to do that, but I wouldn't be surprised if the time of the tornado corresponded to an action or peak point in the personal day.

The last triad of Rome's year is governed by 11. This is a potent vibration that promises new growth, upheaval, and interesting times but ultimately success. So yes, the universe definitely had interesting times planned for Rome!

• The Titanic was laid down on March 31st, 1909. For those who don't know what that means, it is when the keel of the ship is laid; when the ship officially starts being created.

• She was launched on May 31st, 1911. I am using this as her "birth date" information.

• Her maiden voyage, which would be her last, began on April 10th, 1912.

• She hit the iceberg at 11:40 pm on the 14th of April, 1912.

• She sank at about 2:20 am on the 15th of April, 1912.

• Her name was RMS Titanic

The Life Path and Day of Birth Information of the Titanic

The day of "creation" and the day of "birth" were interesting to me right away. They are both the number 31. If we add the digits across, this number reduces to a 4. The number 4 is ruled by Rahu also known as the North Node. The energy of the number 4 vibration is chaos and disruption. Rahu's energy is strong in this ship's birth and creation numbers. Notoriety and lasting fame are also part of the Rahu vibration, for better or worse.

The day she was laid down is not something I normally look at because if we look at her launch day as the birth, the day her keel was laid was the day of conception. In this case, though, we have this day and it is significant to the overall energy patterns in her cosmic blueprint.

Her life path is 21/3. It is symbolized by The World card in the Tarot. The day her keel was laid down is 26/8. Those of you who have followed me for any length of time know that I lobby for 26/8 to be included as a karmic number. Symbolized by the Page of Wands, this number speaks of rapidly changing situations and impulsive actions coming home to roost. When this number shows itself things must be done properly. Corners may not be cut! It is also a number pattern of loss. The World is the final card of the Major Arcana portion of the Tarot deck. It speaks of closing out one book and opening another. It also symbolizes eternal cosmic energy and rebirth. There is also a strong desire to break free from one's bonds and travel.

The other thing that I noticed in her birth information is the year, 1911. Expressed through Tarot this would be 19/The Sun and 11/Strength. Together, these two numbers indicate a background energy that provides lasting fame but also touches the darker side of life. This aspect would be emphasized with the presence of 31/4 in the date, with Rahu bringing karma into play. The year 1911 reduces to 12, symbolized by The Hanged Man. This is a number pattern that is deeply connected to secrets and sacrifice. I haven't looked at the month yet, which is May. This is the fifth month and as such is ruled by Mercury. The aspect created between 5 and 1911 creates an energy that supports lies and propaganda. The aspect between 5 and 31 creates an energy that supports profound and lasting communication that affects large groups. Indeed, after the Titanic sank, the international community responded strongly. There was a frenzy of legislation, including the creation of the first International Convention For The Safety Of Life At Sea (SOLAS) in 1914.

The Personal Year and Triads

The Personal Year runs from birthday to birthday, so in the case of the Titanic, her PY runs from May 31st to May 31st. In the first year of life, the PY is the same as the Life Path, which is 21/3. The PY can be further broken down into Triads, or three blocks of four months each. The first triad vibrates to a 13/4 (Death) and covers the time period from May 31st, 1911 to September 30th of that year. The second triad vibrates to a 16/7 (The Tower) and covers the time period from September 30th 1911 to January 31st, 1912. The third triad is also a 16/7 vibration and covers the time period from January 31st, 1912 to May 31st of that same year.

If this was a person's chart I would look at this first year of life as being particularly challenging, with the possibility of grave illness or injury. I will be honest, I never paid much attention to the story of the Titanic before, but given these Triads, I need to read a book to see what the year leading up to that first and last voyage was like.

The Maiden Voyage

Titanic left port in Southampton, England on April 10, 1912. From there she made her way to Cherbourg, France and Queenstown (now Cobh), Ireland before heading out into open ocean to begin her voyage to New York City. The universal day energy for the voyage commencement was 18/9, symbolized by The Moon in Tarot. The 18 vibration does reduce to 9 and therefore symbolizes endings and fulfillment of cycles, but as a compound number, it symbolizes war, deception, upheaval, secrets, illusions, and danger from water. That's very telling!! The personal day energy for the Titanic that day was 26/8 - remember that number from the very beginning? This was the energy at play the day her keel was first laid. 26/8 is a number of karma and returns. Her maiden voyage occurred during the final triad of her first personal year. This triad was under a 16/7 (Tower) vibration. This is a number pattern associated with danger, destruction, and overthrow.

Colliding with the Iceberg

The Titanic struck the iceberg at 11:40pm, on the 14th of April, 1912. She did not sink, though, until 2:20am, on the 15th of April, a few hours later. It should be noted that 14 is a karmic number that relates to retribution for inaction that causes harm or suffering to others. The universal day energy for that day vibrated to a 22. I know that New Age creators on social media have people conflating 11 and 22 with manifestation and abundance but they are reflections of powerful forces relating to Pluto and Uranus. Clusters of repeating 1s and 2s - particularly 11 and 22 - often show up around accidents and disasters. The time that she sank - 2:20 am - can be looked at numerologically as 22/0 - which relates directly to The Fool in Tarot - card 22/0. The Fool occupies that liminal in-between space between the beginning and end.

The personal day energy for the Titanic vibrated to 39/3 which is symbolized in Tarot by the Knight of Cups. He brings emotional messages that have profound effects. The number 39 contains a hidden sacrifice, as it first reduces to 12 (The Hanged Man) before it reduces to 3. The aspects formed between the 3 and 9 reflect sudden and large amounts of energy, the potential for destruction, but also great courage and selflessness.

The Sinking of the Titanic

Now the Titanic was "birthed" or launched, at 12:13 pm on May 31st, 1911. This means that her personal 24 hour day runs from 12:13 pm on one day to 12:13 pm the next day. I also didn't realize until JUST NOW that 12 and 13 are showing up again!! The Hanged Man and Death in Tarot are the corresponding cards to her birth time.

What this means is that although she sank on the next calendar day, she was still experiencing her personal day energy of 39/3. Using her "birth" time of 12:13 pm, her personal hours run 12:13 to 1:13, 1:13 to 2:13, etc. So at the time that she sank - 2:20 am - she was experiencing a personal hour vibration of 54/9 which reflects endings, messages, and secrets coming to light. It is symbolized by the Page of Swords in Tarot.

The Titanic disaster is a great study in the clustering of karmic numbers and other numbers that reflect endings, disasters, accidents, and secrets. We can study this at leisure, easily seeing the patterns for what they are after the fact but this knowledge can be applied to present events as they unfold when we know what patterns to look for. It also underscores the importance of constructing a chart that contains both universal and personal aspects because events like the sinking of the Titanic are as much subject to the mundane numerology as they are to the personal. Forewarned is forearmed!

Now and then I get a client who thinks it is somehow contrived or fake that numerology or astrology runs in cycles. They seem to be disappointed that - for example - their personal day energy will run in an ordered 1-2-3 cycle instead of something random. Or that astrology has regular cycles as well. Things are only chaotic when we don't understand them but when we stop to look, we can always find the order underpinning the chaos. There are times when it is more obvious and times when you need to search a little harder.

If you've got a Facebook account, which most of us do, then you know that every day it shows you "memories"; a collection of posts made on that date in years past. If you are reading the blog, you probably have Facebook because this is where I share my posts. The next time you are feeling out of sorts and don't know what to expect, try this little experiment:

Open your Facebook memories and look back to nine years ago. Don't worry about any numerological calculations, just look at what was going on in your life nine years ago. Numerology runs in nine-year cycles. Now there may not be any heavy-duty information in your Facebook memories if you are not the sort of person who posts everything going on in their life online. Still, there is enough to jog your memory about past events.

Life runs in nine-year cycles. The cast of characters may have changed and the specific issues you are dealing with may be different but if you look back to your memories in all likelihood the themes are the same. Every year we have what is called "personal year energy". This is a calculation based on your birthday and the year in question. This number can be reduced to a single digit from 1-9. These numbers repeat in nine-year cycles.

There is another, larger cycle at play that runs even more deeply in the background than the above-mentioned cycle and that is three cycles of twenty-seven years each (ever heard of the 27 Club?) but they are a discussion for another day.

So if you want to make predictions about what will happen this year in 2024, look at what was happening in 2015. There is a fairly good chance that the background themes present in your life then are occurring now. If you can remember what you were up to in 2006, nine years back from then, those themes were probably playing out in some fashion then, too. Remember, the people around you may change and other aspects of your material environment may change - but the lessons keep on keeping on.

If you read blogs/articles about divinatory systems or watch videos on social media you will see people write or say things like "Well Mars is opposing Saturn and that's going to make you blah...blahblah....blah" or "This is The Lovers card so that means your girlfriend is blah...blah...blah"

Those statements, while well-intentioned, are not entirely true. Divinatory systems (and I am lumping astrology, numerology, and Tarot together as such for the sake of brevity) are reflective, not causal. This means that they follow the axiom "As above, so below" and they reflect what is either happening, has happened, or is yet to come but they don't cause these things.

This is important! You aren't acting like an asshole because of what Mars is doing up there in outer space, millions of miles away. Over the centuries metaphysicians have noted that when certain elements in the natural world did certain things, certain behaviors and events here on Earth were more apparent. Mars is reflecting the potential for impatience or argumentativeness here on Earth (as above, so below) but it isn't causing it. You are causing it. You are choosing to be an asshole, from the myriad of choices available to you in each moment, in that one instance, you narrowed it down to one option and chose jerk.

Another way to look at this is through the lens of support. Those who have heard me on TikTok in the past will note that I frequently said, "[Insert number here] supports self-soothing behavior and that might look like over-eating, drinking, or spending." Why? Because numbers, planets, and cards don't cause you to do certain things but they can certainly highlight or reflect the energy that is supported. So while you can have any day under the sun, if the energy supports (in this example) emotional responses that might provoke self-soothing activities AND your chart also reflects a tendency towards such behavior, then you might find the energy that day lends itself to leaning into bad habits - but it isn't causing it. You can still put down the Hefty bag of Doritos and go do some jumping jacks instead. No one said you couldn't, or that you shouldn't.

So remember, divinatory systems don't cause things to happen. They reflect patterns already at play and support certain things over others. After all, energy takes the path of least resistance - but you don't have to give in. Don't blame Mars, Mercury retrograde, the number 11, or the 5 of Swords - you always have choices.

Everything in numerology revolves around the number 9 and 9-year cycles. Numbers that are not personal to you are called universal numbers. They apply to everyone. Most people who are into numerology have an idea of what their core numbers are: Life Path, Expression, Heart, and so on. It's important to remember that we have other numbers lurking in the background, beneath the surface. These universal vibrations that get used in calculations influence what we see and know about our charts, helping to create our own personal algorithm.

Let's look at your birth year. You share it with everyone born in that year. Numerology has universal long-term cycles of nine years. Reducing your year of birth shows you where in that universal cycle you were born, but it also shows you what background qualities you share with others the same age or those born nine years apart or multiples of nine years.

If you do know your chart, then you can check to see if these underlying qualities are emphasizing what is already visible or if they are waiting in the wings to be brought out into the light.

Add the numbers in your year of birth. Reduce this sum to a single digit. I was born in 1972:

1 + 9+ 7 + 2 = 19   1 + 9 = 10   1 + 0 = 1

I was born at the beginning of a 9-year cycle. I work with compound numbers so I would actually write this as 19/1. This is a fortunate number, but I'll get into that another time.

Even if you don't particularly feel that you have the qualities of your year of birth, you do have them within you along with everyone else born that year. This isn't a core number, it's a background energy so it may not feel as accessible as the energy in a placement such as your Life Path or Expression, but it is there for you to use.

1: You carry a leadership and innovation vibration. Even if you don't feel like a motivator, a great starter, a leader, or a particularly assertive individual, you do indeed have that energy to draw upon.

2: You carry a nurturing and compassionate vibration within you. You also have patience to draw on and the ability to trust the process when you can not see.

3: You carry a communicative vibration within you. The ability to ferret out clues, network, be a great salesman or marketer, and a magnetic force that draws a crowd - it's in there! Some of you may have to work hard to pull it out, but I promise, it's part of your personal algorithm.

4: You carry within you the ability to create order from chaos. If your year of birth reduces to 4 then you and everyone else born in that year have hard-working, practical, grounded energy to draw upon.

5: Within your year of birth is an insatiable curiosity and desire to know all the things. There is a draw towards the new and exciting, and to cutting loose and getting into mischief. So if you need to lighten up, you have this energy to draw upon.

6: A love of beauty, luxury, and the finer things exists within the vibration of your birth year. You also carry within you a background vibration connected to responsibility and service to family and friends.

7: You carry a discerning and discriminating vibration within your algorithm. If you cultivate it, you will fine-tune your bullshit detector.

8: Everyone born in your birth year carries a desire for power, success, and authority. So if you think you don't have the moxie to go after something and your year of birth reduces to 8 - think again. You do indeed have the backbone required to get the job done.

9: Your birth year contains a go-getter vibe that wants to save everyone from all the things. A caped crusader who stands up for the little guy lives within everyone born the same year as you.

I stopped the podcast for a while because life happened but now it is time to start talking about things again. 

Here are some formulas for you to use to figure out how the energy applies to you:

1. Write down your full date of birth. You'll need this. Let's use a fictitious DOB to show you examples: July 22, 1987 

2. The first calculation you need is your Life Path. Add the numbers in your DOB straight across, left to right. If your DOB contains an 11 or 22 in either the month or day, add this number as is. These are master numbers and we do not reduce them:

• July 22 1987 becomes 7+22+1+9+8+7

• This works out to 54. For now, reduce this to a single digit: 5+4=9

• If the number had reduced to a multiple of 11, we would have stopped there. 

• Please note: years like 1988 or 2022 are not master numbers. They would be added as 1+9+8+8 or 2+0+2+2 because they are entire numbers, not 19 and 88 or 20 and 22. 

3. The next number you will figure out is your Personal Year. Add your day and month of birth to the year in question. This gives you a Personal Year number that runs from your most recent birthday to your birthday next year. 

• So using the above birthday, 7+22+2+0+2+3=36 3+6=9 This gives a Personal Year Number that will affect our client from their birthday this year in July to their birthday next year in July. 

• If you have not had your birthday yet, you will calculate your Personal Year Number using last year's number. So if we were looking at our fictitious birthday BEFORE July 22nd 2023, we would add 7+22+2+0+2+2=35 3+5=8

4. The next number we need is the Personal Month. Add your Personal Year to the month in question. So our fictitious person would be experiencing the following Personal Month Number in November:

• Like the Personal Year, the Personal Month revolves around the birthday. Our imaginary person was born on the 22nd of July so their month energy runs from the 22nd to the 22nd of each month. Personal energies only line up neatly with the calendar when the client is born on January 1st. 

• Because of the 22nd birthday, we need to start with their Personal Month Number for October: Personal Year + Month In Question = Personal Month, so 9+10=19. This further reduces to 1 but 19 is actually a karmic number so I would look at this, too. From the 22nd of October to the 22nd of November, this person is experiencing a karmic 19/1 Personal Month Number. 

• From the 22nd of November to the 22nd of December the calculation would look like this: 9+11=20 2+0=2 For the last eight days of November this person would be experiencing a 2 Personal Month Number that would actually extend to the 22nd of December. 

5. The last number we need is the Personal Day. This is done by adding the date in question to the Personal Month Number:

• So what day is our pretend person experiencing on November 4th? Personal Month + Day In Question = Personal Day Number 1+4=5 or if we want to work with the karmic 19: 19+4=23 

• This is actually a number that relates to the Royal Star of The Lion. 23 is a special number of protection and success. However, it is easier to work with single digits, so 5 is the Personal Day Number for November 4th, 2023 for our imaginary person. This is a day that relates to changing situations, being adaptable, plans shifting, new information being revealed, inquisitiveness, sociability, communication and learning, functioning within a busy environment, and practical jokes - the things of Mercury are front and center on this day. 

• If we want to be super precise, the Personal Day runs from the time of birth to the time of birth 24 hours later. 

I have heard over the years that the number ten is ruled by the Sun. If you use Tarot as I do, then ten is the Wheel Of Fortune and that card is seen by some as being ruled by Saturn. Or Uranus. Or Pluto. It's going to depend on which deck you are using if it's been worked into the art or which author you are reading. A lot of numerology books stumble through the tens because of the zero so they mumble something about the meaning being "more spiritual" or something else that reeks of "I don't know, now let's get through this number quickly to move on to Master 11"

After several years of half-arsed thinking about it and almost a year of full-arse thinking on the subject, I am starting to look at the 10/1 energy pattern as being ruled by Eris. 

Let's look at some of the things that the 10/1 vibration (and The Wheel Of Fortune) symbolizes:

• Breaking ties, especially old ties

• Breaking with tradition 

• Upheaval

• Sudden rise or fall of fortune - fortune not necessarily being money but most definitely luck or success

• Events coming out of left field, whether good or bad

• Unconventional ideas that can bring breakthroughs or open a can of worms

• Discord in the environment whether by events or people

• Situations or people that come from out of nowhere, happen too quickly or forcefully to be stopped, leaving chaos and mess in their wake, and ending/disappearing just as soon as they came. 

• Unexpected choices that no one wants to make, conversations no one wants to have - uncomfortable and discordant stuff that just shows up at your door that needs to be dealt with NOW

Let's look at Eris. For those of you who don't who Eris/Discordia is, she is Aries/Mars's sister/companion and she is as much a bag of kittens as her brother. In mythology, Eris is best known for having the last laugh when she was not invited to a wedding feast to celebrate the marriage of Thetis and Peleus. For some reason, they didn't want the goddess of strife and chaos there. Hmmmm. Being a deity she was really mature and thoughtful in her response to this social faux pas. She threw a golden apple on the dining table and announced that it was for the most beautiful goddess there. Naturally, three of the goddesses felt it was for them. Athena, Aphrodite, and Hera all wanted the apple. Some poor mortal named Paris was brought forward to decide. 

Each of the goddesses made him the promise of a gift if he picked them: 

• Hera promised to make him lord of Europe and Asia. 

• Athena promised to make him a great military leader and let him storm and plunder all over Greece.

• Aphrodite promised him the most beautiful woman in the world for a wife.

In the end, he picked Aphrodite because her promise appealed to him the most. The woman in question happened to be Helen of Troy and this choice caused the Trojan War because her husband Menelaus, King of Sparta, wasn't at all pleased about his wife being given out as a door prize. No matter how Paris chose, the outcome would have been awful because he would have disappointed two goddesses.

The story about this terrible choice was the image chosen for The Lovers card in The Mythic Tarot, and I have pictured it here. I wouldn't have wanted to be him in that moment. I'm sure Eris thought it was funny as hell.

Eris the planet only entered our collective consciousness in 2005. When she was discovered, scientists initially dubbed her Xena and when she was found to have a tiny moon, they called it Gabrielle. She was renamed Eris, though, and her moon was called Dysnomia. This is Eris' daughter in mythology. Dysnomia is the demon goddess of lawlessness. They're a fun family at summer cookouts, just ask Helen and Paris. 

Eris is new to astrology and it will probably be another decade or two before she starts showing up in the regular lexicon. It took a while for astrologers to warm up to Pluto when he was discovered. Eris moves slowly and takes about 560 years to make a full revolution around the Sun. She entered the constellation of Aries in 1926 and will be there until 2048. Like Pluto, Neptune, and Uranus her influence is currently seen as largely cultural. Where it becomes personal is if she is conjunct with another planet in the natal chart or if the transits form an aspect.

Eris represents tremendous cosmic energy. She brings disruption, transformation, and chaos to certain areas of life. Regardless of where she is placed in a chart, Eris challenges traditional views on identity and self-expression. She encourages people to embrace standing out. Make it weird. It may well lead to a "journey" of self-discovery. This is a euphemistic term for identity crisis. This is a goddess of chaos. She's not going to lead you down the path laden with rose quartz, cute festival outfits, and oracle cards. That's not her awakening. You're thinking of Fashionistia, Goddess of the Galleria. 

Eris's aspects will disrupt your happy relationship in progress, She leaves events lying around for you to step in and you end up questioning the societal expectations of your relationships. All of them. Not just the naked ones. You may find yourself suddenly yearning for something extremely unconventional. You may start stripping away layers and come to the realization that you've been living a lie. Cry it out. Blow some snot bubbles. I'll be here when you're done. 

Like the 10/1 vibration and The Wheel Of Fortune, Eris brings unexpected and sometimes sweeping shifts to your life. They don't just have to be to self-identity or relationships. Your career. Your education track. Where you live. Your money. All of your life can be disrupted by this energy pattern and what you'll find is that one change begets another and another and another. Trying to stop the changes initiated by a transiting 10/1 energy pattern is like pissing in the wind. Discord will happen to you whether you like it or not. None of us can escape the turning of the wheel. 

I don't mean to make it sound negative, because it certainly doesn't have to be. Despite legions of White Lady Life Coaches handing out infographics full of well-meaning tips on how to smile our way through a "shift", it doesn't change the fact that we are wired by nature to see things negatively or suspiciously. It keeps us safe. We don't like change for a reason. We like what we know which is why when the 10/1 pattern shows up it can carry hesitation. Like a drop of water quivering on the edge of a tap, we try to stay where we are, where the normal is, but eventually, gravity takes over and that drop of water falls into the drain, just like we have to jump headlong into whatever life brings us. 

While the sort of change brought on by the 10/1 vibration and The Wheel Of Fortune can feel terrible at the moment, these events generally set us free from things that have run their course. I know it sounds like a tired old cliche but we really are better for it when we come out the other side of discord and the turning of the wheel. 

There is some posturing in the numerology community over who is doing "real" numerology or not. I don't have time for it. If your math is correct and your interpretations are accurate then your numerology is fine. If you like Chaldean, great. If you like Pythagorean, great. If you like Vedic, great. You get my drift?

The reason I get a little cranky about this is that I have read “Vedic” books by Indian numerologists who used Pythagorean alphabet keys. I have read “Pythagorean” books that used compound numbers and planetary correspondences. I have read books written by individuals who have said quite plainly, “If you’re not doing it the way I’m writing about then your numerology is wrong” only to state a few pages later that their book contains an amalgam of systems that they devised over the years for themselves. 

I have a book written by mathematician and numerologist, Dr. Kevin Quinn Avery. It was published in France in 1974 as “La Vie Secrète des Chiffres” and in the English-speaking world as “The Numbers of Life”. Dr. Quinn Avery used the terms numerologist/kabbalist interchangeably. He discussed the pros and cons of Pythagorean vs Chaldean numerology and showed how both can be useful. I can not tell you how many numerology books I have read that were written by (mostly) Pythagorean numerologists, carrying on about how their numerology is the “real/ancient” version, using modern formulas lifted straight out of this particular book, which investigated both schools of thought. So to all the numerologists out there who want to tell people that what they’re doing isn’t the “right” numerology, respectfully, kiss my big rosy red arse. 

I try the charting systems in every numerology book I read. They all work. No one numerologist has the "true key". If you want to look back far enough, then only the Vedic is the "true" numerology and all the Pythagorean numerologists are wasting their time, but having had readings by Pythagorean numerologists, I know this isn't the case. Use the formulas and interpretations that resonate with you. Create new systems and test them with everyone who will sit with you for a chart. If numerology is to survive it must be allowed to evolve to suit the times.  Above all, be a good human and don't go picking on people.

Well, it's shaping up to be a hell of a Blue Moon period during multiple retrogrades here in the kitchen. One close relative in the emergency room with heart related problems, another one in and out of urgent care needing we-don't-know-what and the actual full moon isn't until tomorrow. Fun and games, fun and games. 

So a friend had a question. Well, it was more of a statement: "having a panic attack over money and ft at work. Any advice?" 

Ok, let's unpack. A panic attack about money implies that money is tight. Having a panic attack about "ft at work" - she's not full time and wants to be? She is full time and that's causing her panic? We wait with bated breath for the response!

While we wait, let us have a quick boo at her chart. She is in a 19/1 personal year that began at her birthday in May. This is a karmic personal year in which the covers will be thrown back and all of the things that need fixing will be on display. The 19/1 vibration corresponds to The Sun in Tarot. Although this is generally seen as a good card, in numerology it is considered to be a malefic. This is because under the influence of 19/1, nothing can hide. All is rendered visible. This pattern is at it's strongest in the first third of the cycle and so the worst of the karmic shit show is happening now. 

What does this mean? 

It means that the curtains are wide open and the light is streaming in as we speak, illuminating all that needs tending to. This is both good and bad. It's good because we need to know what needs fixing. It's bad because the 19/1 vibration has no sense of pretension or decorum and does it all PUBLICLY. See that kid on the horse, on The Sun card? He's buck arse naked IN FRONT OF EVERYONE, with a big shit eating grin on his face, no less. 

Prior to this, she was in an 18/9 personal year, visually expressed as The Moon in Tarot. This means that things were quietly falling away and she may have been seeing things as much rosier than they actually were. Such is the power of The Moon: under the moonlight things are obscured and the stuff that looks big and scary isn't. However, it can distract you from the things that you can't see in the dark, that continue to lurk in the background, causing you issues, until The Sun happens and they're put on display for everyone to see. These are the things that you suspect aren't right but since they're not in your face demanding attention, they're easy to forget about and because they're obscured they're difficult to investigate. Or they are things you didn't even see coming because you were so distracted by big looking things that weren't really a problem. 

Ok, so I cast a Mahabote chart to have a quick glance at her year. From January to her birthday in May she actually was under a Moon minor period. At the same time that she was in a numerological personal year ruled by the Moon as well. HA! Now she's in a Mars minor period and will be until her birthday next year in May. So for almost the first half of this year things were brewing under the surface. Her spidey senses probably tingled because The Moon is her birth planet, owing to the fact that she was born before sunrise on a Tuesday. This makes her technically Monday born in Mahabote and therefore a Moon person. 

She strives to always be a moral, lawful person (Jupiter in Kingly) and what people can see a mile away is kindness and compassion (Venus in Fame). Her Moon in Wealth means that she can read people like an open book, and below Mercury in Leader, she's very good at ferreting out the truth. She also has a bit of head vs heart conflict going on. Saturn in Impermanence means that groundedness is not always within reach. Especially with the Moon above it, she can go off on a tangent and let her imagination run wild with all manor of frightening things. The Sun in Sickly shows issues with identity and self worth. Awww, hugs!!! Mars in Extremity with Mercury in Leader and Moon in Wealth show someone who calls shit out, In her youth she probably had quite the temper and took a lot of things very, very personally. It's still there but her lack of orange attire means that in her adulthood she has learned to manage it better. 

That's preamble. OK, we have a response. She isn't currently full time at work and this is causing issues. Let's have a looky-look:

This year Jupiter is transiting her natal House of Fame where Venus resides. Venus is visiting the House of Impermanence where Saturn resides. Venus rules the merchant's scales but she does not like being in Saturn's house. The House of Impermanence is an especially tense house for this aspect. Money will be tight this year. As long as she sticks to a budget she should be OK. Venus brings some of her own house with her when she transits Impermanence so it is possible that unexpected expenses will rear their heads. Venus is strongest in the middle third of her transit, which is right now. Money issues will most likely ease up in September although they won't go away entirely. Its going to be a tight year. 

Now with Jupiter visiting Fame, he brings with him some of his House of Kingly Position. This house shows where we try the hardest to be perfect. Jupiter lends this morality and upright behaviour to the House of Fame. So in case she hasn't figured it out, she's going to become a bit loud about issues concerning work and she's going to broadcast her opinions far and wide. This transit is also good for political involvement and having people behind you so if she was wanting to become a voice for issues within her profession. Coincidentally enough Jupiter relates to teaching and she works in education. 

The Moon is transiting natal Mars and transit Mars is visiting the House of Leader. My friend needs to take care not to read more than is necessary into things. She also needs to rein in her expectations and not become too attached to the outcome of things this year. This will be hard for someone with natal Moon in Wealth. However, that Mars transiting Mercury in Leader gives her just the touch of bitch that she needs to turn that Jupiter into a loud, activist voice that rallies people and makes them aware of what is going on in education in her province right now. This could be a good year to become politically active and with natal Moon in Wealth strengthened by being her birth planet and natal Venus in the House of Fame, she really does care about the well being of others, community wide. 

The ten year long Saturn major period that she is two years into is another indicator that she becomes more focused on such matters. Saturn cycles make us more serious. We work harder and longer. Our friendship circles change to become more "useful" - the flakier relationships tend to fall away, to be replaced by relationships with people that are more aligned with our long term vision. We take better care of ourselves. Saturn makes us aware of our boundaries and what resources we have to work with. If you are good at functioning with strict parameters this is a great time to shine. If you have difficulty with this then this period will be more difficult because there is less freedom and autonomy, but if you can learn to work with less you can come out a winner. We learn a lot about ourselves during Saturn periods and this is why I like Saturn so much.
